Why my goldfish don't breed?

Featured Replies

Hi there...

There are something I don't understand if anyone out there can help?

I have 3 males goldfish around 4 years old, they are all now have white spots on gills and pectoral fins, I think they are ready to breed if I am right? And I also have one female with a big belly.

How come the males never chase the female? Thank you!

Alot of the time they need a fair bit of surface area to spawn. When they are in a pond the femal will not be harrased as much and they will most likely be more successful. In the tank the female will be harrased too much and spawning may not take place.

If you dont have a pond try something bigger as it seems you have good breeding golsfish there.

good luck!
