If you copy my tank (Divided) as shown you can move the female when things get sociable. You can see that by the actions of the fish. I have a few 2.5cm young swordtails in the other side just as something for companionship. A little cave is a must, as is a bit of cover for the lady.

Hi All 20Ltr plastic buket with lid is the only way to move those guys. :roll:

I have 2 pair of Panduro's and they are extremely easy to sex. The female is YELLOW with a black stomach blotch. The male is BLUE without the stomach blotch. Not too good a piccy but you can see the difference. Good luck.

Hi All I use "Black Flag" Fly spray in both the lounge and Fish room. You must remember that ALL sprays are toxic :evil: and will certainly upset your fish. I always spray into an area opposite the tanks and "COVER THE TANK STAND WITH A SHEET" and leave it there for 20 minutes after spraying. I haven't had any casualties as a result so far. :oops:

Hi IOU1 The pump you have is an "ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPRESSOR". It is the same as the "BOYU" ones that we deal in and they are all the same, just a different Name plate/sticker on them as they are all coded differently for each different "NAME BRAND". The AC-0 = "AIR COMPRESSOR" the Numbers refer to the output and the wattage. I think the one you have is 63 Litres / Minute and is about 80 Watts. It would easily handle 10 tanks. If you give me the Physical size I could be a bit more specific though. They are a very good unit and I actually run 3 units for my tanks. I have a 30Ltr/Min running my BBS Hatchery. An 80Ltr/Min running my 10 tanks in the lounge. Plus a 150Ltr/min running 32 Tanks in the fish Room. Hope that helps.

Hi Zoban How's your weather. The term, according to me anyway, is a fry with a pinched belly and swimming jerkily at an angle of 45 degrees and appearing to have a serious swim bladder problem. :roll: They never seem to recover so they are "Angel" food. :oops:

Hi All I can tell you that if you are lucky enough to keep them alive they are quite prolific and true breeding. My solitary female whom I was nurturing very carefully as I had lost the other 16 females and three males; and who anybody would not have held out any hope for has produced 23 fine fry; although there looks to be a couple of belly sliders in the bunch at present. Time will tell............... I'll just keep pouring in the BBS. :lol:

Hi All, It is up to the "Wholesaler" whose integrity is at stake to honestly publish the origin of ANY SPECIES he / her, them / they are selling. It is questionable as to the origin of "MY ALTUM ANGEL'S". I have to take the word of the store where I brought them and they have to believe their "Wholesaler". I am encouraged by the integrity of "ORGANISM in CHCH where I brought my pair, as they are standing firm on them being "WILD CAUGHT IMPORTS". The ones I am selling are the first tank bred Altums that have become available as far as I know, and to say they are magnificent is an understatement. As for the Apisto's, they were brought into New Zealand by "HIGHWAY FISHERIES" from Germany. I believe they came from "GLASER AQUARIUMS", but I could be wrong there, and whether they are wild caught or tank bred I have no idea.

I asked a Tiling/Roofing "Specialist" and he suggested a "Castle" up the end of Trafalgar Street.. :lol: The "Cathedral", but you'd have to take it off the roof and that's illegal... Hi All I just had to get it right for my new Dwarf's that cost an arm and a leg, and the foot as well: so decided to try the handyman thing and construct a cave that is easy to put in the tank, take out of the tank, hatch the eggs in and most of all clean. Flower pots are great but in a bare tank with aeration they can move a bit. Half flower pots are ideal, but a bit unnatural; then I saw on Trade Me a Bamboo House, :lol: and the price $10.00 to start, AND "IT DIDN"T SING". Older members will recall the "HOUSE OF SINGING BAMBOO". Seeing that convinced me to make my own; THIS IS THE RESULT. A piece of Slate, Half a Flower Pot, Blinding Sand (1-2mm) and Silicone Tank Sealer. If they are the Strain form "BROOKLANDS" you will have to do a lot of nurturing to keep them alive. :oops: I lost 19 out of 20 that came from them. I have one female left. I'm not too certain Alan. :oops: Mine are taking BBS but dont seem to be doing a lot of swimming yet, but they do make a concerted effort every now and then. :lol: I'll just keep feeding as long as they keep eating. Hopefully they'll free swim this week.
