  2. Hi All, Just a bit of an update; I have three A. pandurini fry, taking BBS and doing well. I also have about 40 fry of A. cacatoides. They spawned last Wednesday (3rd Jan) while I was in CHCH at the hospital. My partner noticed the pair behaving (as she put it) in a peculiar manner, not like they normally are. She noticed the eggs at the end of a flowerpot so she removed the flower pot to another tank. 8) "Good Girl". Then I get home and the Blushing Angels were "AT IT" 35 Tanks and "NO ROOM AT THE INN". MTS, I need another 10 tanks. http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g71/amazonianfish/th_NOROOMattheInn.jpg
  3. Hi All, Good luck with the venture. I hope you end up as fortunate as we were in Nelson when I got the club going here again.. Long may it last.

  7. Hi All, (Capital) Warren said ((oops) posted) one thing that is relevant. the ENGLISH LANGUAGE HAS BEEN BUTCHERED. One thing is for certain though, (Ask any foreigner that can speak English) the English language by it's very design is a "BASTARD" language (and I had to pass it for UE) and has no gender and the spelling is apalling. And the meanings of the spoken word can cause all sorts of confusion. See, Sea, C. FUNNY: If you take two letters out of a three letter word the meaning is the same. What is the word? I know, so think about it. Those three alone can when spoken can have a foreigner looking at you sideways. WRITE THINGS HOW THEY SOUND AND THERE WILL BE NO PROBLEMS USE THE WOK / AMAZONIAN DIKSHINRY MORE (or is it moor) ((Sorry I dont want to tie up a boat, or go walking in Scotch paddocks) OFFIN and SMILE AND LARF AT LIFE. :bounce: :bounce:
  8. Hi All, ( I hope the Capital "A" is correct) ROFLMAO I think it is about time that all this "POLITICALLY CORRECT CRAP" was dispensed with and the perpetrators of it's inclusion into NZ society taken out in public and shot. If you have trouble with the way some of us (NZ'ers) spell then it's about time you got your brains together and took a long hard look at the WOK / AMAZONIAN DIKSHINRY. If you can understand what is written then stop whinging and leave the populace alone to enjoy their lives. THIS IS ALL WRITTEN "TUNG IN CHEAK" TO GET SUM DISKUSHIN GOING.
  9. I am going to post the prices of the "NEW DWARF CICHLIDS" as my IN BOX is overflowing. These fish are coming from the wholesaler to me on FIRM ORDER and they are "NOT CHEAP".. YOU CAN COMPARE PRICES AT THE LFS, BUT I NEED TO KNOW BY MONDAY NIGHT IF YOU WANT ANY APISTOGRAMMA INCONSPICUA..... $36.00per PAIR APISTOGRAMMA HONGSLOI..... $80.00per PAIR APISTOGRAMMA VIEJETA..... $93.00per PAIR APISTOGRAMMA sp. REDTAIL..... $70.00per PAIR I think the A. sp. "REDTAIL" are a McMasteri color form. All the above prices are at discounted rates to FNZAS MEMBERS ONLY but you have to add $36.00 for "COURIER and PACKING". These are in limited supply and it's first come, first served.
  10. Hi All I would like to know who is still interested in the "NEW DWARF CICHLIDS" that are just about to be released. I have prices (NOT CHEAP) and I am not doing this as a BUSINESS so please PM or Email me if you are still interested. There is Apistogramma hongsloi 4 cm..... "NEW" A. viejita 4 cm..... I already have these. A. sp "Red Tail" 4 cm..... "NEW" A. inconspicua 4 cm..... I already have these. These fish are only available in PAIRS and are not being sold individually. As an EDITED ADD-ON, I am NOT GOING TO DO THE NEW CATFISH SPECIES> Sorry.
  11. And some of that water is the colour of a "flat white coffee" and some the colour of "tea without milk". What I am saying is don't go overboard to have a crystal clear tank that has no microscopic life in it, cause it's all been filtered out. The fish wont thank you for it either. And 40 year ago there wasn't any of this new found parafinalia that is available today, which only fattens the pockets of the manufacturers and the shops. Just be a bit realistic with feeding and the amount of light the tank gets. The type of filter that is installed in those tanks are Extremely efficient without adding more.
  12. Hi all Have you ever been on safari and, or looked in a "Natural Waterway / River." 8) I have and I was astounded that the rivers I saw didn't look anything like any of my tanks. ROF  THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "PRISTINE / CRYSTAL CLEAR OR FILTERED IN NATURE". Get real, let your tank look a bit natural; "GRUBBY" is GOOD, filtered is for HOSPITAL OPERATING THEATRES"
  13. Hi HandS My Breeding Tanks that I use for Dwarf's are all divided tanks with fish in the other section.. The spawners never seem to worry when I approach their tanks it's just that "MOST DWARF'S" are naturally egg eaters for a start and settle down to rearing their young after their third or fourth spawning. That is as I have found, and it may not neccesarilly be the "norm". However, I'll carry on trying, cause that's what the hobby is all about. Piccy of my Breeding A. pandurini.
  14. Hi All The old ways are still the best!!!!!!!!!!!! The couriers do a great job within a 250Km radius, but I wouldn't trust them with expensive or HIGH VALUE FISH outside that area. The only way I would contemplate sending "DISCUS" the length of New Zealand would be by"Air". You are already paying "TOP DOLLAR" for the fish so why skimp on the freight cost. YOU ONLY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR - AND SOMETIMES YOU DON'T EVEN GET THAT.
  15. Thanks HandS Like, you are suggesting I put my hand in the tank for them to spawn on? It's a great concept; and one that truely needs accolades for brilliance as I could remove my hand as soon as they had finished spawning. It was only about five minutes from the time I got home and saw them to the time I removed the flower pot, so they were damned determined to eat them. There are three eggs hatched and looking good this morning.
  16. Hi all. The "FAMOUS LAST WORDS" - They'll only get one chance at eating their eggs..... How wrong was I. Came back from Christchurch on Thursday night, and yep the "PANDURO" spawned again and looked like they had just finished. So guess what, I off with my jacket up with the shirt sleeves and removed the FLOWER POT they had spawned in................. Hoorah: Like Hell, They saw me coming I reckon and started eating before I got the pot out of the tank. I think though, I had the last laugh on them though as I still got four eggs that were stuck fast and, you've got it; they hatched about an hour ago and the fry are wriggling like it's the end of the world. Fingers Crossed that I manage to rear them. 8)
  17. Hi All. You seem to have got it in one Mikaela........... But I'm not like that. I just love to get the feminine perspective  it is far more blunt than the male's of the species. Good luck with your shift as well fatty the catty, and when the move is complete I assume that all the tanks ( including the new ones ), will go into the 'NEW FISHROOM' which could be purpose fitted out.
  18. Go for it. Start building the extra tanks while you have a wee bit of spare time. "MTS" comes on extremely rapidly with each consecutive spawning. I know of no other hobby that increases so logrithmically.
  19. CONGRATULATIONS Good to see a "Newie" getting into the hobby.
  20. Hi Caryl.. "Merry Christmas" Yes I do know that. I went down and have just arrived back. Shame about it is that my Diabetes dont know the difference. The going to the shops just makes the trip a bit more manageable and not so boring.
  21. Hi all, I'm just on my way to Christchurch (AGAIN) to the hospital. I'll post some piccy's when I get back on Friday night. I cant wait for the "A. Hongsloi" to become available mid January.
  22. Hi Penguinleo Microworms are a great "Fry Food" and are "Easy to Cultivate" so as you can have a continuous supply of live food for your fry. I use them to feed my fry and some smaller species "Adults" on a daily basis, which means I have to keep about five or six cultures going all the time. They are as I said a great fry food but I place them between "INFUSORIA" and NEWLY HATCHED "BRINE SHRIMP". They are not a substitute for either, but work with and alongside them both. Good Luck
  23. Hi all "MERRY CHRISTMAS" Since everyones interested in having some, I'll put in my order as well for a school of 50. They are indeed beautiful. Maybe someone can get MAF to take some non descript fish off the "Allowed List" and swap them for these little beauties. MAYBE THE MOON'S MADE OF GREEN CHEESE AS WELL, AND "MAF" ARE FAIRY GODMOTHERS.
  24. HI ALL MERRY CHRISTMAS I've decided due to the amount of PM's I'm getting, to put "All and Sundry" out of your misery. I JUST HOPE THAT THE WHOLESALERS HAVE THE SAME "XMAS SPIRIT" THAT I DO. I DO NOT KNOW THE PRICES OF ANY OF THESE SPECIES SO DONT ASK. APACHE WHIPTAIL CATFISH BIG SPOT PLECOSTOMUS L124 CHOCOLATE STRIPED CATFISH HONEYCOMB PLECOSTOMUS LANCEOLATE WHIPTAIL CATFISH (RED) PERU STRIPED PANAQUE L204 QUEEN ARABESQUE PLECOSTOMUS L260 SNOWFLAKE PLECOSTOMUS LDA 33 TAPAJOS TIGER PANAQUE L271 SMALL SPOT ANCISTRUS LDA5 TWIG CATFISH REDLINE HONGSLOI DWARF CICHLID VIEJETA DWARF CICHLID RED TAILED DWARF CICHLID ( Which I think is A. For all that, I will be trying to get the Dwarf's in sufficient numbers. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  25. Hi All, MERRY XMAS TO EVERYONE I actually have the list as I will order them for the shop. The list is certainly impressive. I already have one of the species of "Dwarf's" that are listed and I have bred them and managed to raise eight to maturity. That was a hint and one of the Pleco's has beautiful stripes. Roll on the New Year....................
