  1. that was a little hard to follow. they feed it into i highly aerated place (skimmer or overflow into sump) to disperse the CO2
  2. another afternoon of someones life, gone. go to bed everyone, its too late for this sort of stuff
  3. contamanation control?? would they be something you could put on the end of the overflow (like a micron sock filter??)
  4. at that sort of price you will find most skimmers are about the same (ie ok for a very small tank with a light bioload) as soon as you upgrade they loose their usability in saying that i had one that size on my 90l tank untill i upgraded to my new 500l tank and i dont regret having that skimmer for that tank as any other skimmer that would have fit on the 90l tank would be far too small for my current tank. my suggestion is that yolu do good regular water changes, and keep a light fish load or alternitavly upgrade now
  5. yip wasp is right that they are not the cheapest around, on trademe you can find 150watters fo under 80$ these are more expensive i guess because they are a little more sylish than your standard diy halides
  6. you would need to change the bulbs
  7. yeah they would be great, im looking into those eye lights at the moment (the japanese ones) but these would be a good second choice
  8. welcome aboard pickle. good to have another reefer. jump on in over in the saltwater section, it gets abit rowdy but at the end of the day "most" of them are good people.
  9. good idea reef i might do that as well, the more people that see it the more likely that someone that needs a few MH's will benefit
  10. yip looks like another macro too me
  11. if anyone is after 9 150w MH's follow this link http://www.trademe.co.nz/Business-farming-industry/Retail-hospitality/Other/auction-43283956.htm shame he's selling them all together as i wouldnt mind two or three
  12. so where do we go cracker???
  13. yeah uber is a good one pies . yeah the corralites does look more like the hoek. it must be thatim so used to seeing people on RC saying look at my tort blah blah blah and posting up corals that look like crackers. still like everyone said nice coral no matter what the name
  14. looks like youve got your self a nice tortousa there
  15. i dont know it i would call it a bad thing, just means that there is more space for sps
  16. no its ok, think i'll wait a bit to see what what.
  17. just the facts paul just the facts 8)
  18. exactly wasp, one of the arguments against becketts is the power hungry pumps they need to run them, looks like the pump is the right one for the job.
  19. yip thats the plan. u could see straight away that there was moe than enough air getting into the skimmer. i currently have the air set to about 1/3rd of the potential, this will probably increase to about half from the feedback that robin has given me. also the gate valve comes into play to adjust the water level. got a nice surprise when i read the box that the resun came in, it only draws 65w at 50hz or was it 55w oh well the moral of the story is that it was less than the 100w i was expecting
  20. there are the teething issues, but i think most of those have worked them selves out. it was a very frustrating two days though. my space is a bit limited thats really the only thing i might have changed (but that would mean a bigger tank ) cant get a really good feel yet for the end product or skimming capacity but for only two days its going well
  21. and i dont think Dr evil spent 10 years in evil medical school to be called MR. (where is the smiley with the pinky to the corner of the mouth???)
  22. i think youve got your people confused. Dr Evil is the DE lighting guy Mr Robin is the ocean werx guy
  23. yip no doubt about that, its just a nice thing to have incase one day your not thinking about skimmate and forget to empty it. i cont comment on the maintanence required on the beckett yet but apparently the neck needs need to be cleaned more often than needle wheels but i would have thought it would be the same.
  24. on the right hand side at the back you can just make out the pump (resun md55) and the skimmate goes down the tube into the waste collector. the waste collector is a genius little peice of equipment. it holds more than a normal collection cup which is nice also when it fills the pingpong ball in it raises and blocks any air from escaping, this in turn stops the skimmer from working the water level drops right down so no fear of overflowing. well worth the extra few dollars for peice of mind and the buffer between having to dump out the skimmate. since teh skimmer started working properly at about 930 last night its pulled out about 250ml or skimmate, this skimmate is more towards the consistancy that i expected. its still breaking in so im expecting good things.
