  1. i say 22-28 most torpicals are ok at that, best is 24-26
  2. i'm pretty sure aurora are on most pet shop import lists, wonderworld in rotorua had some a month or two ago between $15 and $20 6cm or so. This is my male greshakei i think that is the species you are talking about, i am trying to find females but they are brown like a number of other mbuna and if i see one in the shop i dont know for sure what it is. anyway, good luck in your search. 8)
  3. sounds good, we dont have demasoni or aceii in nz you guys get all the good stuff  anyway, can't wait to see the pics. 8)
  4. where did you get them from?? shop near me i'm guessing because last time i was there i saw some.
  5. i have about 3-4 males pushing 14cm looks really kool when they display their fins at each other. 8)
  6. Ok, i personally don't know alot about diseases and parasites because with the fish i keep (mainly malawi cichlids) at the high pH i dont seem to get many diseases. This afternoon just before i was going to clean the filter floss in the sump on my 800litre malawi tank i noticed some little critters swimming around in the water above the filter floss, does anyone know what these could be??, are they harmfull?? how do i kill them?? they are about 1.5mm long and look like a drop of water (pointy on one end and come to a bulb on the other end.) hope you can help
  7. 8) those are some mint looking cobalts, sorry but edef. 2 females to me as well.
  8. don't know what happened to them but i've met them, i think they went out of fish and now are just starting up again.
  9. how about someone works for maf then goes to importing, who volunteers? AND you get to go to all the importers and check out their setups
  10. the dumbest things with shops and africans is that all the zebra species the name the same so basically all are hybrids, i have only one hybrid and he just swims around, doesn't do anything, if you plan to breed dont sell hybrid fry. shop are generally pretty good with all other africans, yours look mostly like hybrids, maybe one female kenyi/metriaclima lombardoi.
  11. get a whole lot of 4x2's and lay them along some cinder blocks, the 4x2's make the equivalent of a thick plank
  12. nope as far as i know, not in new zealand??
  13. wow, kool, how many do you have?
  14. the female picks up the eggs during spawning and get a mouthful of "stuf" to fertilies them :-?
  15. mine take crushed bs flake or spirulina powder straight away, how big are the eggs sacks are they like way bigger than the fish or like just a big tummy?? if tghe eggs sack is way bigger than the fish you need an air stone for lots of water movement but not too much because it will rupture the eggs sacks
  16. look in the freshwater memberstank section under 800litre tank "kribkrazy" needs to be updated again though.
  17. in my 800litre tank taking all the rocks out for catching the females is a big job so i generally leave the female that breeds first for as long as i can before catching her and all the other ones that have bred. normally get about 5 batches of fry ever 3 weeks maybe

    synodontus atterimus
  21. leave her for 10days and then put her in a holding tank then they will be hatched so it wont matter if she spits them out you can just raise them in a container.

    Network Syno?

yes it is a network syno, i have one just like it 8)
  23. they dont look like the lion cove labidochromis caeruleus, maybe you have a different colour varient. they dont really have the electric yellow head shape though so could mean they are crossed with some sort of metriaclima the one in the top right of the picture has the head shape of a metriaclima but all the others are pretty in between, hope this helps
  24. i use jars and air stones, tublers can only fit a very small amoout of egg in, i have great results using jars so i guess i will keep using them
