  1. I would love it, My daughter would love it. Boss said no :-)
  2. I make them to order. If you are ever down this way I have one made up now ready for sale.
  3. He lives in Bulls too. Tons of each for sale at the moment. PM me if interested
  4. I have a large female cherry that can be free to a good home. Lost her mate 6 mths ago. When I bred them in wellington is was not really to much of a worry if the parents ate some of the eggs cos still tons of little ones hatched. Just put parents (I used 2 pairs in a 18x9x9 inch tank) together in a tank of java moss for a few days and remove them....done!! Its even better if you can watch them spawn because you can get them out when its done. My brother has Honey's for sale if you want too
  5. This is my first try at a planted tank. Big thanks to Ryan who showed me how to post pix on here because I was to lazy to read, and to Downs family who supplied a number of the better plants I have. A quick last mention to Peter (wetpets) who gave me a heap out of his rubbish pile that managed to grow quite nicely Cant seem to find any of the cockatoo's, infact the only fish showing off are neons and guppies. This was taken after a large clean out this afternoon. defenately looks a little empty at this end

  9. This is as emotional and as exciting 2nd time as it was 1st. Announcing the arrival of Miss Amanda Grace Holdaway. She made her way 'gracefully' into this world this morning at 2.18am. Depriving her parents of about 50 hours sleep prior to showing up but made up for that immediately afterwards.
  10. They are a bit small but they are from local breeder and have been raised on good food and no colour additives. They should be fine.
  11. Were are both really happy for you guys, no need to be sorry. :-)
  12. I will offer huge congratulations to mate. Wife went to see today and by all accounts beautiful baby girl. Stole the name we were looking at for ours , but nothing nevitive should be said here. Beautiful baby, beautiful name. Well done and congrats Stephanie. All the best and will get over there saturday to say this in person, with the mandatory cigar of course.
  13. There are no words that seem to fit at a time like this. Alan, where ever you may be now, you will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers goes out to the whole family.
  14. My only Male is dieing. Found him yesturday swimming in circles and bent in half, looking really crook. I have some fry also but with the move to Palmy they have been mixed with cockatoo's. Will be a while before they can be seperated and identified.
  15. Hard or Soft water isnt compleately dependant on pH. The pH is a measure of acidity or alkalinity of water. Hardness is a measure of how many additives are in the water. It is possible to have soft water with a high pH. We do normally assosicate hard water with higher pH. Hardness is then devided into temporary (carbonate) hardness which can be removed by boiling or standing water for a few days and perminanint (non carbonate) hardness which has to be chemically removed or filtered out. Test kits can test for both GH and KH of water which are the 2 types of hardness. Gosh I hope I got that the right way round. :-)
  16. It is basically a a group of microorganisms typically found in decaying organic matter. I think more correctly animalcule which covers all the micro animals including Paramecium, Amobeba, Rotifers and even Ichthyophthirius. They are (with the exception of Ich which you wont grow in a bucket anyway) good food for very small fry like Betta because they a cannot eat anything as big as BBS usually for a wekk or 2. I make cultures with boiled water in a jar or bowl. Add a handfull of scrunched up lettuce. Within a couple of days there will be tons of life in there from, as Alan says, the atmosphere. Amazing how water and vegetables (or fruit) can make small animals :-) Some say you can speed up the process by mixing in a small amount of the muck from a filter also.
  17. I picked up about 20 of the 20ltr jerry can plastic type today for nothing but they replaced the taps with the screw in bungs cos they reuse the taps. Pays to ring around cos you will probably be able to find what you are after in much the same way. Just got yellow pages this morning and rung resturants, health food shops etc till someone said yes.
  18. Dug has about 3 pairs of them also but no young yet. Congrats too. Meant to say that before. Alan is right, Angels can do a David Copperfield with fry. Both the pulling them through seemingly solid barriers and the disapearing trick.
  19. Some Rams are ok at best as parents, sadly mine were not. Usually I take the eggs away and hatch seperately cos they ate every batch otherwise. If eggs are seperated then the parents will most likely spawn again in 2 or 3 weeks. You might need some more tanks to cope with all the fry???? :-)
  20. Please dont beatup on me for this question. What is the most common reason for having a sump? Hidding the ugly equipment? Creating a larger volume of water? As a filter? Would a built in 'sump' (I know its not really a sump but hopefully you know what I mean) work? Was thinking of a 600mm cube tank with the back 100 - 150mm partitioned off with tinted glass or perspex to hide heaters, pumps and filteration equipment.
  21. :-) I sugested both cos I want both :-) reserve me some emperors if not all taken before. 'you are 3rd in the queue, If we are not in contact within 4 months we will put you onto our express queue'
  22. Emperor's are beautiful fish, as are Congo's for that matter. My personal favorite are the Emperor's but breed your favorite because you like them not for what others might want you to do. Better yet spawn both and have get 2 pins for youself and KMAC
  23. lol. I had forgotten who had them. If you have room then yes I would like them. I will probably be over your way this week anyway so I can collect them if its that is better for you.
  24. That would be great thanks. Small words though eh or I will get stuck. (Thats why I abbreviate my name ) I have a few chunks of Ambulia or some baby Cryptocoryne if no one else has already offered anything better
