  1. I can’t see pix unfortunately but great anyway. Very best of luck for them.
  2. I know this is an old post but I have also just noticed last night millions of tiny worms moving across the glass in one of my tanks. This biggest ones would be about 10mm but countless thousands of others are maybe 1 - 2 mm long and very thin. Maybe 1/10thmm (a thou or 2 as my Dad would say) What are they? and do they do any harm? How do I kill em? My guess is they came of river rocks and survived the boiled water and bleach and everything else so they may be hard to kill off.
  3. Yeah well my excitement was a little short lived. I did a stupid thing and scared the parent sso they ate the eggs. Was doing so well too. lasted almost 3 days. Still I have hundreds of Danio babies I have to take care off Ooopps Sorry Danios not belong in Cichlid forum.

Yeah same happend to my Discus last week. I was gutted. Got all excited about eggs and then they went and sprung that on me. It was after 3 days of guarding em too. Guess we try again huh.

Cool Krib. Actually I dunno how long but wanted to say congrats. I think it will be aprox 3 days but someone smarter than me will no doubt come along to correct that. Watch they dont fall through the hole Actaully prolly a dumb reply huh as they already hatched by now
  7. Good luck with the trip Inter. I would like some more gouramis Ira. I have some spare room now
  8. Scared to get close yet. Wife took some shots but can only really see flower pot and parents fussing about it.
  9. I got me Discus eggs!!!!
  10. I got me Discus Eggs!!!!! Really excited
  11. Special on air too. Will bring some along. Perhaps a shade used but give it a wash and as good as new.
  12. I have Cabomba, and some non-twisted Vals but nothing of much interest. Happy to part with some if needed though. BTW on Club page, who is Kapi Mana's breeding coordinator?
  13. Had a goldfish jump from a bowl once and was found later in the base of a potplant. Was covered with mud and completely dry but after an hour back in its bowl it was fine, however it not something I wish ever to try again on any fish as I believe cruelty is not only giving what is not required but also taking away that which is.
  14. Awsome Dark. See ya there with my Chq book
  15. Great pictures. Thanks for posting them
  16. I am feeding them all sorts "Discus Dinner", flake food, Ox Heart, Daphnia, Bloodworms and Whiteworms. They eat everything but it takes 5 - 10 minutes still for them to come looking for it.
  17. I have a 3' (160Ltr) tank setup with a pair of discus which I would like to breed. Water is around 6pH and soft and tank has Cabomba and some Val’s. Can put any other fish/catfish in there with them as they are a quite shy and don’t eat food straight away which means some gets to the gravel and goes bad.
  18. I am not so sure that Ram's and Angels with Jewel’s are a good plan but a Severum and Jewels or Yellows are theoretically ok on paper but water requirements for the 3 are different as Severums prefer soft acidic water and Yellows and Jewels like harder and slightly alkaline. In a 2’ tank you may get some territorial fighting with any combination. Maybe make into a species tank. (Hopefully someone will come along with a correction if I am wrong)
  19. Yes from me as well. Have great trip. Was talking to Mr. Downs last night so wish them all well from me. Pity about the weather in Alk and also from Wgtn but the worse it is here the better Fiji will seem. Have a great time everyone. 8)
  20. Has anyone done pH tests on newly collected rain water? I am setting up a Dwarf Cichlid and Discus tank and collecting rain water but read that it may be as low as 4.5pH and often around 5 – 5.5 in NZ when ideally I think I need 6 or just under. Also what are the best pH test kits to get hold of?

The site has now been changed so hopefully it will be easier to open the page. Sorry to those who had problems with it. I am not a web designer so a few mistakes were bound to happen.
  22. And a good time was had by all. Big thanks to all at Kapi Mana for letting me come along. Will defiantly be back. (If I am still welcome)

Good Morning Caryl. I mean I have to get the tanks ( that is kinda a plug to anyone in Wgtn who has some spare for cheep sale ). Really want to get back into fish its been 15 years since I last kept any. This is such a magic idea to have a forum and also I had a wee peek in the chat room last night also a great idea. Big thanks to all those involved for getting this started. Darn I forgot about the naps lol Todlers never pick up after them selves. Next time I had best edit the pix a bit better or better yet clean up b4 taking pictures.

Hi. I have been a member (ish) for a week but just figured out how to put pictures up. No laughing please at my limited cabinet making skills. http://bilbo.orcon.net.nz/fish.htm
  25. I have 2 x 18 watt (100watt equilv) energy saver lights over a 1mtr x 600mm deep triangle tank. I got the bulbs for $2.99 last week at the Warehouse L.Hutt on special. Couldnt ask for more. Plants are going wild and fish look in briliant colours. I want to upgrade to some fluro tubes but for the moment it works great.
