yeah i understand that it is just for looks but i like the idea of it haha and also would love to have the luna mode as this tank is going to be in the bed room so i will watch it every night. i think ive decided ill get 1 aqua illumination hydra and controller and sell the k3 unit the hydra is ment to cover a 36'x36' area fairly well so will see how it go's
i do like the k3 ive had over the nano its been great and at the price of them its hard to argue but i just like all the silly functions you get with the vega (cloud cover, lightning, moon phases) and also the fact you can dim each colour group individually im just not sure that one vega will cover the tank and im not sure i can fork out for two
so as some of you will know im upgrading my nano tank in the near future and currently have a key k3 nano led fixture over it now the plan was for the new tank which will be 800x600x500 to use the k3 and buy another k4 nano unit and run them both over the tank but after looking around at led fixtures i am really keen on a aqua illumination vega but the problem is if i was to go for the vega i would sell my k3 and probably only be able to afford one vega would that be enough light for a tank that size which will be stocked with mainly sps or am i better off buying the k4 and using that + the k3?
quick few updated shots of the tank have added a few things lately mainly frags and also got a peppermint shrimp and have put a cowrie snail in the back compartment to help clean up any left overs
FTS
anemone
frag rack
fair enough if you are realy set on going down the diy route check out this site they have heaps of diy kits some of witch you can integrate a controller with dimmable settings and such

something like the 14 led kit might be ideal for your set up?
righto here yall go some updated pics, still all taken on the iphone so qualitys not the best and tank looks more pink than it is but you get the idea haha also a little video down the bottom of the silly clowns trying to host a hammer/frogspawn that still hasnt had a chance to open fully since i got it as these two just wont leave it alone haha
zoas
sps frags
branching monti (only glued in that spot temporarily until i decide where to put it)
zoa garden
blue centers that had fallen off the colony at lfs so i glued them to some lr rubble i had in the back of the tank recovering well and also a small mixed frag i took from my mixed colony
cool little fan worm i spotted
hammer
neon green hairy mushrooms
and last photo the latest fts
and the video of the clowns
to be honest i wouldnt bother with any of those lights and would have a look at some of the fluval edge tanks on http://thenanoreef.co.uk/forum/forum.php for ideas on lighting but at the end of the day it all depends on how much you are willing to spend really
little while since the last update and i have my first fish two baby percs thanks to cookie extreme(nzmas) in auckland also added more frags thanks to brendon (also nzmas) and yesterday added a couple more zoa frags some pinks (all open and looking good) and some blue centers that are yet to open fully as they were ones that had come loose from the colony at the lfs thanks to a pecking raccoon butterfly but they are definately trying haha had a problem with aiptasia lately got some aiptasia x the other day and blasted the tank with it and today the tank looked great i could only find one that i missed so that got a blast as well any way will take some new pics tomorrow and upload them cheers
those came from the pet center yeah? i have the same ones the greens and browns mine also have white in the middle but are more green but they change day to day ive noticed and they are quick growing and hardy as all hell i had them on one piece of rock for less than a week and they had already started spreading onto the rock being that i didnt want them there i pulled them off and moved the colony to the sand bed there was one left attached to the rock looked sick as and 2 weeks later is still going great guns haha opens right up and has a huge head on it good starter corals dont worry to much about the white in the center as i said mine have the same and are going mental
give them two months if the fans are like the k3 units they will get loud....very very loud
and also your actinic blues will burn out at around the 3 - 4 month mark i need to replace mine already only had the light going since late jan this year and noticed around a month ago the blues were shot
