  2. yeah i know i know haha but i got a bit excited  so any way gooood news ive been working long hours the last week so havnt actually had a chance to look at the tank with the lights on but got today off work and have just looked in the tank and all of the daitoms and hair algae are basically gone now!! woop tank looks 1 million times better now will update with some pics tonight have spotted a bit of bubble algae this morning so i will hopefully tackle that today if i get a chance other than that its happy days :D
  3. yeah i get alot of my stuff from fish street they are really good and fairly priced im actually now thinking of just getting another k3 nano slim unit for the new tank instead of getting a 60cm k4 as it works out cheaper and i can use the money i save to get a skimmer and other stuff haha
  4. thats what i thought but for the whole kit sent here for under $300 it could be worth a try
  5. these kits here http://www.aquastyleonline.com/categories/DIY-LED-Lighting/LED-Controller-Kit/
  6. quick question have any of you guys looked at the http://www.aquastyleonline.com diy kits? they do a kit with controllers and such i was thinking of going for the 42 led kit for my next tank i want to build but im not shure on the quality and cant find a hell of a lot online about them.. could be one to look into they are fairly cheap and shipping to nz is quite cheap as well...
  7. +1 :iag: except im trying to quit number two just brought one of those electronic cigarettes yesterday... it sucks and definately isnt the same as a real one but im shure it will be worth it in the long run and the fact that cigs are stupid expencive now days! i still remember being able to buy a 20 pack of pal mals for $9..... oh the good old days haha
  8. nice bike! ive had a fair few my last was a 04 rmz250 with a 270cc stroker kit on it was good fun but kept braking myself and braking the bike so it had to go if i get another bike it will definately be another 2 stroke much more fun! :gpo2:
  9. cheers dude haha you and me both!! and yeah i was thinking that may have been a issue so ive turned them right down to sps bar on 1030 - 2030 blues on 1130 - 1930 whites on 1330 - 1730 and since its a hours ramp up / ramp down the whites are only on full power for 2 hours and the blues are only on full power for 6 thinking of turning them down to 4 hours full power untill the algae go's away
  10. yeah well that was what i said i quite like the ember tetras but last night i showed her celestial perl danios and now i think shes gonna go for them haha has anyone here kept them?
  11. suprisingly its not that bad the big tank isnt to loud and small tank is silent. can you guys give me some suggestions on some little fish that would be good in this tank im looking on the net at the moment with my girl friend but any suggestions would be cool!
  12. another few new pics taken today still have algae issues but after adding the purgen, rowaphos and carbon and twice weekly water changes and syphoning it up its definately starting to dissapear which is awsome most of the corals are looking much better and less sulk so im guessing that all the algae was agitating them one of my frags i brought off trademe (radio active green zoas) still hasnt opened up fully but it definately is trying haha unfortuantly its spent a little while face down in the sand after falling off the rock (still havnt glued or puttyd any of them down yet since im still not 100% i like there positions anyway heres some pics
  13. thanks dude heres my current view from bed   soon to be 3 tanks hehe will be moving the nano marine in once i get the new tank for it built haha
  14. most probably is but ive got it lying around was going to use it on another set up but thats been converted to nano marine so might as well put it to use and its also going to be dosed with the same ferts i use in my big tank so co2s not going to hurt
  15. dont think weve forgotten about this updates?? :spop: :spop: :slfg:
  16. Trololol my post was edited evin when you censor swear words some one still edits the post it did involve a classic quote from rickey
  17. The unplanned mixed tape The VS ep The language of my world and The heist all maklemore and all AWSOME irish celebration, otherside, falling, cant hold us, castle and starting over are def my fav tracks from him and ryan lewis
  18. yeah i thought so haha but need the light for another tank we are setting up for her sisters bday and yeah forgot about that haha might have to get a bristlenose as well then once it gets to big it can go in my tank haha
  19. so today i helped my girl friend set up her first tank that i got off a mate who was over fish keeping  shes studying to become a vet nurse this year so i thought it would be a good idea to let her get some hands on knowledge with fish (since we already have a dog a cat and my 2 tanks haha and i figure i cant get in as much trouble for spending stupid amounts of money on my hobbie if shes into it too :gigl: ) shes not shure on what fish she wants to have in it yet but ive sugested a few different fish that i think would be cool, end of the day tho its her tank and up to her what she wants to put in it. At the moment i think shes leaning towards a school of around 6 - 10 ember tetras or cherry barbs but ive been showing her a few different rasboras and barbs and now she cant decide haha also will put mabie 2 - 4 ottos in to help with the left overs and such. was going for a low maintenece and simple yet lush looking tank so will be planting it out with glosso in the next few weeks and also putting some anubas or widelov java on the wood heres the specs tank - 500Lx300Wx245D filter - tankmaid 400 lighting - aquaone 18w t5 pl (planning to upgrade to something a bit more powerfull) heater - jebo 50w substrait - seachem flourite black sand hard scape - bog wood and rocks found localy plants - at the moment just christmass moss c02 - paintball cylinder (alot like a sodastream set up) nano glass diffuser, glass bubble counter and non return valve still need a regulator but will probably get the one from fish street thats about it for now but will keep it updated so heres some pics glass is a bit dirty and tank still a bit murky from the substrait (silly me rushing things and not cleaning the substrait first haha)
  20. YES! :gpo2: :iag: best show ever
  21. pics sorry all off iphone so not best quality but you get the idea, since last update ive removed the camboba and replaced it with some twisted val and moved the red plant from the left to the middle of the tank also removed most of the glosso since the lighting just wasnt good enough. FTS harlequins big apisto little apisto little apisto again little and big apisto another shot from the right
  22. tanks looking amazing love the shrimp !drool: :cophot: :nfs:
  23. hey dude yeah ill add some tonight haha been pre ocupied with work and the nano so this tanks kinda been left to do its thing also still waiting till i can afford new lights for it and co2 ran out about a week ago i think so have stopped dosing ferts until i can get out to the refill place haha but will chuck some pics up a bit later tonight
  24. yeah same here one of them looks quite sad tho when they guy sent the frags it was face down on the bottom of the bag and looks like some of the heads have been flattened so im hoping its going to be ok! and ill pass on the hermit now bud i think 2 will be fine for a tank this size thanks anyway tho
  25. right been a while since i updated this ive added quite a bit of coral since last time. but still battling algae! feels like im fighting a loosing battle but heres hoping now that the extra clean up crews been added i will start winning! recently i added a new loc line dual nozzle so one is pointing straight ahead at the surface and one is pointing right so it flows behind the rock i also recently added 2 red legged hermits and already had around 5 - 6 turbos in the tank today in the mail i recieved 3 new frags of zoas a orange tip green center a full fluro green and a mixed rock that have been added so arent opened in the photos and also got 2 astrea snails today i also added some rowaphos and some purgen to the first chamber in the back so hopefully that mixed with the cc will get rid of this fugly algae all the corals have been sulking quite a bit recently as well which i think could be due to the excessive algae and it is getting me dishartened but im shure in time they will be back to there former glory my big rock of zoas has been sulking for around a week or so now with only a few heads opening during the day which had me worried so i gave it a fw dip and 2 bristle stars and around 3 or 4 bristle worms fell out it also had a reddy/pinkish looking sponge growing on the back that i removed which had a sort of brown jelly in the center not shure what it was but i didnt like the look of it so now its gone. heres the photos let me know what yall think thanks! p.s iphone photos so quality is a bit low
