  3. insert tv where? thats pretty bad for the neck being that low isnt it?!
  4. for business environments, wireless wans i rate 1/10 and wireless lans 3/10. for home use, single pc on 802.11g (54mb/sec) primarily used for Internet access, i rate 9/10 - purely for the convenience "sit in bed or on the couch" factor
  5. just do the "look test". if you can look at them for 10 seconds without passing out, then they're up for replacement
  6. we'll take your word for it, but.... pics!!!

now ya tell me Michael I'll come buy from you next time
  8. maybe. the yellow may indicate an old bulb or it may indicate a low Kelvin rating. if you are definate that both were the same K rating then its probably an old bulb (although even bulbs with the same K rating may differ in colour spectrum. I have 2 x 14K's same brand, same age although one is much bluer than the other. Pies noticed it when he was up. Very noticeable)
  9. "base station" = ap or access point. wireless is cheap nowadays - especially if your notebook has 802.11a/b/g (wireless) built in. you can pickup ap's for around $150 which includes dsl builtin. linksys (subsidiary of cisco) is a good brand that comes to mind. i run a wrt-54g at home, hooked up to my home lan and wireless notebook. its great surfing from the comfort of your couch - except for hot-lap syndrome
  10. do i have home and contents insurance?
  11. how much water are you expecting to hit the floor? i get next to none on the floor at the back of mine, and the water level is only 5mm from the top. no splashes, and evaporation is a given but not to a level to cause drips. most work is done in the sump room (apart from the obvious rearrangement of corals, feeding fish etc)
  12. yes this is normal. have the waste go into a drum to feed your washing machine, garden etc. when they say 'waste' - remember its still useable as RO/DI means zero crap. my rodi is 75ppm in, 0ppm out.
  13. so simply plan the tank so it doesnt leak, not rocket science

  15. i think the mods should remove that last post, we shouldnt even be joking about hating our friendly neighbours
  16. thats NZL for ya in general, house prices sky rocket, petrol prices sky rocket, living expenses sky rocket,... salaries/wages stay relatively the same. and labour reckon they will stop the brain drain! after they got in i was VERY close to moving the family to aussie... btw, this post is not of any political nature, it is simple FACT.
  17. my house, not my work. have you seen the price of beach side property in auckland? (or in fact almost everywhere in nzl) got a winning lotto ticket?

    salt mix

Just continuing this topic from 6 weeks ago... What other salt mixes do those who use ASW use? I see Jansens sell Instant Ocean but it's bloody expensive ($54 to make 240 litres - thats a single water change tonight for me - hence why I usually stick with NSW) I notice others for sale, like Red Sea brand on Trademe. I've read reviews and see Instant Ocean is one of the better ones. Who sells this in bulk at a better price? At $54 for 240 litres thats 22.5 cents/litre. They also sell bags to make 600 litres for $130 odd. That's 21.6 cents/litre, not a great deal cheaper.
  19. arhh well, 1200 metres walk to the beach from my place... thats closer than our holiday home,... oh wait, i dont have a holiday home...
  20. What traffic, it's school holidays Anyways, I took the chopper in this morning 8)
