Here's some pics of the way it is now, don't think I will be changing it for awhile now took long enough to do it this time, not to mention the mess haha. The c. balansae is already starting to melt a little bit so hopefully it doesn't all melt off and if it does hopefully it all grows back. Finally got myself a ph controller aswell so will be installing that probably tomorrow and keep the ph at a steady 6.6 as without co2 it rises back to 7.4-7.6, I haven't put the discus, loaches or tiger plecs back in yet as I want to give the plants time to settle and hopefully root before they take their toll on them. The uruguayensis sword on the right side has some leaves over 80cm long from the base of plants, anyone know how tall these things can grow? From what I have read on the net everyone seems to claim they only get to a foot tall not much more but this thing is nearly 3 feet long and still growing.

I find that swordtails will eat it if you don't feed them.

:iag: but bleach dipping will do the job, just have to give it a good GOOD blast with the hose then let it soak in some dechlorinated water until it doesn't smell like bleach anymore, leaving it out in the sun while it's soaking is a great idea as sunlight helps break down bleach too. I wouldn't recommend doing an excel treatment on anything other than a small tank or spot dosing, too expensive otherwise. I just bleach dipped a bucket of anubias yesterday and it worked excellent, bba turned white within an hour and now my algae eaters are loving it. You only need to leave the wood in the bleach for 3-5 minutes so I wouldn't think it would absorb much bleach anyway as it should already be water logged.

Have you got a ph and kh test kit? If so you can get a rough idea of what your co2 levels are from comparing the results from both those tests with this chart; http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/pla ... Chart.html

Even low amounts of co2 will show an improvement in plant growth over a tank with no co2. Have you got a drop checker?

Not really, excel has some magic ingredient which seems to kill certain types of algae. BBA usually happens because of fluctuating co2 levels caused by many things including water changes as usually tap water has quite a high level of dissolved co2 present in it. Some people including Tom Barr recommend not doing a water change that often even as low as once a month if you have problems with algae.

Just be patient dude, saying that it's probably not going to help with the fluctuating co2 levels, I would be trying to get it going again asap.

I would say it is, personally I think they should be telling the truth if it is and saying customer was not happy with the half ass job they did of building it and bracing it. Also isn't 10mm glass a bit on the thin size for a tank this big?

My friend who has a problem with camallanus worms has finally got his a into g and got some avitrol plus as this is the only product containing levamisole that we have available locally, what we cant seem to figure out is the correct dosage amounts? It says on the box it has 8.48mg/mL of levamisole? Any help will be appreciated.

Also have 11 clown loaches now to put in ranging from around 5cm to 12cm. Bye bye snails!

Cheap as chips off trademe.

Stayed up till 3 this morning re-planting the tank, added a huge (80cm+) uruguaynsis sword plant and finally some c. balansae. I took out all of the dwarf sag as it was just trapping food under it which was leading to a planaria outbreak. Also now I might actually be able to see most of my fish not just the discus lol. Found a few different types of sword plants I didn't realise I had aswell so that's a bonus. Tank is still heating back up to temperature and will probably have a mini cycle with all the disturbance I caused from ripping it to bits so discus are in a 130ltr holding tank until all the levels become stable again. Will post some pics later hopefully.

Hope he's alright Caryl. Just spent 12 hours emptying out my discus tank and fully rescaping it, what a mission! The bath is still full of plants I'm not sure what to do with!
