My preparations for christmas involve fattening up my fish, and doing extra water changes so that they will be fine when I am away for two weeks without feeding them.

To the best of my understanding double/tripple paned windows are just layers of glass with air in-between them. Air is a relatively bad conductor of heat, so as the air is trapped in the glass and can not form convection currents, or blow away it is a good form of insulation. In the same way as a jumper is good at keeping you warm, not because the wool is a good insulator (although it is not bad) it is the air that is trapped between the fibres.

I have been saving up for a new graphics card and monitor for my computer all this year, and finally got around to spending my money. It is so pretty...... "Sapphire bue hi back golden arowana" It may not be the prettiest of fishes, but I am super excited to have got it.

It would be nice if it happened, but at the moment the fisheries lobby groups are to strong, and to oposed to there being change that there is no way our current government will even consider doing something for the good of our environment. Wish it was different, but they cynic in me knows that it will never happen.

Our roof was getting cleaned of lichen so that it can get repainted, and we were meant to disconnect all the down pipes, but managed to miss one of them, and now the water in one of the tanks is contaminated with what ever chemical was used, not sure what it is at the moment. Apparently one of our tanks should be fine as the water did not run into it, so I will use that and see for now. Still not going to be fun carrying buckets of water from the bottom of the garden to my tanks to do water changes, but what must be done will get done.

Several hundred litres, I have to do water changes on my 900L, and my 200L.

Where would the best place in Auckland to buy a plastic container for transporting water be, hoping not to spend to much, but need one relatively urgently? As we have managed to get a chemical into our water tank, and I am not no longer going to be able to do water changes from it this summer, so need to transport water from somewhere else to my place.
