Depends how much you need. Central landscape supplies is pretty good and have locations all over Auckland (and deliver). If you're going for cheap ring around the plant nurseries on your area (may not be many near CBD) as they often get rid of their old potting mix etc. I got several trailer loads for my mum from Knights nursery in Albany at $30 a load. Could be a good excuse to go to hollywoods in Albany and spend the savings.

Cross breeding Africans is more likely to result in less colour not more. A red fish crossed with a blue fish does not give a red and blue fish. More likely a washed out red or blue fish with dark lines through it.

Decided I had to get away from living in the house whilst it was being worked on (to varying degrees of competency) by the new builders. Started looking for a flat yesterday morning. Finished moving in at about 5:30 pm tonight. So much more relaxed. Also discovered one of the flatmate a has a fish tank (though it is a 2 foot tank with what look to be stunted goldfish and some mountain minows). With a bit more encouragement I'm pretty sure I can get the fish rehomed and a heater in the tank

Haha, but the problem arose when I stopped working for family. Also just got a call from the new builder. He managed to get the skip placed too close to the garage door so it couldn't be closed. I asked what he did about all my tools in the garage and the fact my house can now be walked straight into off the street. His response "they're taking the skip away tomorrow morning". Awesome

Yes, but it is possible to build two "garden sheds" in such a way that they can be used as a single building. It can be a bit fiddly but I have done it before on a job down in Wanaka.

Can't sleep because I'm so angry. Been doing a renovation for my mum and sister which has required hundreds of hours of drawing plans and dealing with council. For months I have been fighting council over an existing deck over a roof that was previously consented, but council deny it was because they have lost the records. After all my efforts i finally got to the last hurdle and all was looking well. The other week my mother decided she wanted it done faster than I could manage by myself so I was replaced by a crew of builders run by a family friend. Today he started work. Within 3 hours he had torn up the deck, guaranteeing that it all had to be rebuilt as the building code has changed drastically in the 20 years since it was built and you can't replace it the way it was done. This requires replacing the entire roof and probably the framing as well (probably going to cost about $20k). All because he decided that in the brief time he had been in site he knew more than someone (a qualified builder for almost 10 years) who had been living in the house for 9 months and spent countless hours investigating every flaw that needed fixing. For the sake of a 5 minute phone call the job will now take longer and cost significantly more. And that's just the first day. Please note the lack of expletives in this post, I think it warrants recognition
