  1. Bichirs gone, dats still here.
  2. Nice info and pics there I got a male and a female sal too, mine are in a mixed cichlid tank with 4 GT's, one large fem JD and the 7 loaches they not looking to pair up just yet. I have found that the female salvinis are one of the most agressive fish ive kept, far more so than convicts and up there with my old grumpy male texas that i had.. Stunning fish, one of my favourites too, it may be a toss up whether the sals or GT's get the 4 footer to breed in..
  3. You shouldnt have to do too much to keep the fry alive, clean water and stop them getting sucked up the filter Separate them if you want. Ive never had much trouble raising central american cichlid fry.
  4. You need some big indo dats in there... wink wink buy mine
  5. Sweet, now grow out those fry! (when they hatch) and post some pics
  6. Nice bichirs there, i want to do a big bichir tank one day. will watch your progress.
  7. I know i feel sorry for my ornates He actually wants "all breed of arowana".... Whos up for an asian aro community? No takers, c'mon... nobody? I wonder why
  8. Pretty sure none of those photos are of his actual fish, well except the syno which he took from my auction where he purchased it. The pic of the whole community tank was also from someone elses auction iirc, it was discussed on fishkeepers a week or so ago... another overstocked hamilton tank... Dont think it gets much better he wants an asian aro, pacus and datinoids.
  9. Thats nuts, that guy just bought those two bichirs and the syno (which is closer to 20cm) off me on friday!!! Said he bought the second aro on friday too?! He said he had ordered a 1000L tank from greg... Did wonder if i should be selling to him, another trademe fail for nice fishes... looks like im the egg now. And he wanted my three 25cm indo tigers aswell!
  10. Sorry with that i would add a centre leg aswell. But thats just me.
  11. What snookie said, if either of the spp forms a pair there will be agro, two male dempseys together may be ok, as you say trial and error. You can definately add more fish, as long as your tank can hold them, the pleco shouldnt get any trouble from them either. You could try some other fish i have clown loaches and a featherfin syno with my big JD female and had a adult female convict in there too. Ive never found JD's to be that agro unless breeding, convicts similar actually but maybe more teritorial. But yeah if there is any pairs in the tank there will be issues.
  12. Um yeah well done man Congrats! Your a discus breeder now!
  13. Cause the 75cm being the height isnt more "footprint" for the fish to use. If it was 75cm wide that would be better for space, well thats my thoughts. I would say you are pretty well stocked with the fish you already have. Those fish will all get to a decent size when fully grown.
  14. Nice fish i wouldnt mind a couple...
  15. That is the normal colouration, the red on the dorsal is normal. Unlikely to be a hybrid. If they are male and female they will likely breed. As for sexing, males are large and have more pointed anal fins. They have little or no blue on the gill plates while females have a good deal of blue pattern. The body of a female will have less color than a male. HTH Duncan.
  16. They are Jack dempsey cichlids (Cichlasoma octofasciatum)
  17. The seller has not actually said that it is a NGT, he has said he believes it is rare, he is probably misinformed and/or inexperienced and it is more than likely a IT od AT. Lol, now this is awesome ^^^ You are posting a statement on a public forum saying that "Pointing out people idiocy(?) in front of everyone is always fun", now why would you say this and question your spelling of the word idiocy (which you spelt correct BTW) in the post? Would you not want to check the spelling first and not appear so, um i dunno... (fill in the blank here). And now as I click submit I begin the wait for people to pick my own spelling and grammar to bits
  18. He probably actually meant weight wise, aye henward but used a length measurement instead haha, as in a 3' one would weight twice as much as a 2' one lol...
  19. Agreed, if only they could put a length/volume in the title, it would save having to view so many auctions!
  20. One of my large dats dis this, but healed up perfectly, i removed the wood after it happened...
  21. Looking good, as others have noted, very nice clown, and that puffer is a good size, not a dwarf species obviously. Hoping that large shist rock is secured well, looks to be precariosly perched there!
  22. Oh no, thats like the worst news! So sorry to hear LA, and for it to be 2 1/2 feet long!
