  1. Sounds like it is going to be an awesome tank! If you're looking into a rock scape google iwagumi. That'll give you some good inspiration. I used a bag of flourite black sand on my 22l and have only got a layer 3" deep. Looking forward to progress pics
  2. Maybe a nice blue light, aye Henward? :slfg:
  3. Everything's a bit straggly at the moment, I've got to wait for the glosso to set in a bit. Went to get hairgrass from the pet shop but it was brown and now very good. I accidentally dropped one of my lights into the tank and well... Getting 200g of KNO3 and 100g of K2SO4 soon. Added phosphate into the substrate because it can only be absorbed via the roots (I think). Will get a better photo soon.
  4. What Ferts are you dosing?
  5. Electric blue jack Dempsey (guessing)?
  6. I've ordered 200g KNO3 and 100g K2SO4 off Valray. Awesome trader, highly recommended  :spop:
  7. :slfg: thanks Alanmin, much aprreciated
  8. yum, who doesn't like bird poo in there fish tank :slfg: Also would the same apply to their Sulfate of potash? 42% K 18% S
  9. Does anyone know what form of phosphorus would be in this? http://www.tuigarden.co.nz/superphosphate 9% phosphorus 11.5% sulfur P=31.0 MW S=32.1 MW
  10. I do, I stick it on record. Best one was in that guys million dollar mansion.

    The What's Up? thread.

Is the HFF website down? I can't seem to access it :dunno:
  12. After looking at Seachems Nitrogen, it contains Nitrate and ammonium. After looking into it a little more, ammonium can be used in aquarium fertilizers. But clearly ammonium isn't good for fish (which I won't be stocking) so that is not a worry. So I have found a product in the form of sulfate of ammonium (which I assume is (NH4)2SO4) So clearly the ammonium will be used up by plants and the sulfate ions will be left. Is there any side effects of sulfur(sulfate) on plants?
  13. Watch this space next Friday. :spop: Glosso and Hargrass on the way + Seachem Nitrogen. This will be temporary until I source some KNO3 and K2SO4.
  14. Theres no red bubbles, background or anything Henward! Seems legit :slfg:
  15. Can someone check my Maths for me? :slfg: Mass of KNO3 = 200000mg Mass of NO3:K= 62:39.1 (ratios of molars masses?)= 122,651mg:77,349mg mass of water=0.5kg Nitrate Ppm=mass of solute/mass of water =122,651mg/.5kg of water =245302ppm Then Still on nitrates Initial concentration x initial volume = final concentration x final volume So Initial concentration=245302ppm Initial volume=x mls Final concentration=20ppm Final volume=20000ml So to get 20ppm nitrates Initial volume=(final concentration x final volume)/initial concentration =(20ppm x 20000ml)/245302ppm =1.6ml [Potassium 77349/.5 =154698ppm (154698ppm x 1.6)/20000= final concentration =12ppm] Not sure how much that last part makes sense but not what I'm completely concerned about.
  16. So a total height of 530mm? It should be fine as long as I don't need to take it out to often :slfg:
  17. Interesting points, I will look into getting a FX5, but need to check the height, this being my main concern. :slfg:
  18. It's methylene blue, and IMO, just leave it as is, stick a blue background on it so it blends in?
  19. Wait for a reply from Valray to see how much nitrogen I need to dose. According to seachem formula .25vn=m where v is the volume of the tank in gallons, n is how much you want to raise the nitrates ppm, and m is the mls you need to add Then .25*5*20= 25mls of Seachem Nitrogen? This seems like a lot to dose (any insight?)
  20. +1 it also makes your argument weaker IMO
  21. It could be to low oxygen levels (not enough circulation) or too low lighting. Have a geez here http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/lighting/85667-par-data-spiral-power-saver-bulbs-5.html#post904062 And http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/lighting/85667-par-data-spiral-power-saver-bulbs-2.html#post837592 For some info if you were looking at increasing your lighting.
  22. I think it would be good to put an article on the main FNZAS website. A care sheet would be good IMO.
  23. Hi I was looking at upgrading my filtration system on my 540L currently it has a Sunsun HW304 2000L/h. So do I add a 405 or sell the Sunsun and buy a FX5? Also can someone tell me how tall the FX5 is with room for pipes? The cabinets 56cm tall. Thanks
  24. Most Chinese speak mandarin now if I am correct. Cantonese is a more traditional Chinese.
