OK guys I want to thank you all for the input you have helped me a lot I now have Two filter pads in my Eheim and hope by tomorrow morning there will be a difference I also got a phosphate filter pad should I put that in too or not don't have an algy bloom just thought It might help clean things up quicker

Thank you everyone I am getting some filter pads today had none left to put in my tank last night ammonia and nitrits all still good what sort of pads are the best for an Eihem filter I can't seem to find the proper ones like Ehfisynth

Just seen your post Elly07 I have cichlids 19 and 3 GBA and 1 pelco all small not fully grown in a 450ltr tank my Ammonia is 0 and so is the nitrites

I have the Eheim 2329 professional and that is what it says in the book but since I have taken out the pads the water is getting more and more cloudy will it hurt the fish where can I get which I have googled Ehfisynth filter pads

Yes two large ones and a small one I am still learning so have I done the wrong thing also my instruction book for the Eheim says only use Ehfisubstrat do not use cotton wadding filter pads plastic media ceramic lava or peat I was also told by someone else not to use filter pads who's right and who is wrong

Hi what is the best way to get rid of very cloudy water should I do daily small water changes or not do any for at least a week or more it has been cloudy now for 5 days and getting worst my water ammonia nitrate etc is perfect I am not over stocked I may have been feeding to much but not for the last 4 days when I noticed it getting cloudy I am running an eheim filter and 3 air stones I did make the mistake of putting in wool pads and have since found out the Eiheim runs on Ehfisubstrat only so I took out the wool pads and since then I started to get the cloudy water I did wash the ehfisubstrat and am guessing I should not have maybe I have upset the filtering system any help much appreciated thank you forgot to say I have put in a small bag of carbon in my filter It has been there for around 10 days could that be the problem

Hi the tank has been up and running for around 3 months filtration is an Eheim 2329 I did make the mistake of putting in filter pads and taking them out every week to clean them but now I have only Ehfisubstrat and a green wiry sort of pad made for it at the top then the green lattice on top of that I have 21 fish only half grown in a 450ltr tank I have cut down on the feeding cichlid food and some food that I have cooked up which is shrimps peas carrots spirlina garlic, flake food,tropical tucker,mysis they get a bit of a variety feeding once a day but now missing out the odd day my ammonia and nitrites are good ph is 7.8 to 8 dkh is 3to4 its been cloudy for most of the time looked like it was coming right then went cloudy again I am now going to leave it alone apart for once a week water changes and checking ph etc I had washed the Ehfisubstrat and maybe be I shouldn't have cheers for your reply

Thank you guys I got my limestone from a lime works it is beautiful rock pure white is not crumbly I will look at putting in coral rock and taking out the limestone and replaceing it with something else if it dosen't clear

My PH is 8 which I want for cichlids but would love to have crystal clear water what if I were to take out the lime stone and put in some coral rock or does that leech as well thank you

Hi can anybody tell me does lime stone rock leech out into the water I can't seem to get my tank crystal clear and does anybody know where in the south Island I can get rocks with holes through them I think they call it lace rock thank you cheers Joy

There is rocks with gaps every where so I am sure he would have found a place somewhere or do you think I should get a piece of pipe

I done my weekly water change today a ritual every Friday morn and there he was don't see any babies yet maybe and maybe not thank you all

Hi I have a male and a female GBA they are sizable for breeding the male had a very red spot on his head I am guesing that is a sign for breeding I have lots of hiding places for them the thing is I have not seen my male for 8 to 9 days does he stay with the eggs the female is out and about what do you think Joy :dunno:

There is a lady here in Dunedin who grows and sell it to the pet shop so the pet shop is where I got it from I did get some off TM once sorry can't remember who it was but the stuff from the pet shop was way better don't think the pet shop would tell me who the lady is

Hi thank you for your reply my tank holds 450ltrs my filter is an Eheim professionel 2329 my nitrites and ammonia is 0 and ph is 8 temp is 26.5 my fish are all fry except one 6" pleco I have 21 fish in there and I do a 40% water change every Friday I feed twice a day not too much my water is nice and clear cheers

Hi I have noticed 2 out of 7 of my Electric yellows are scratching them selves not a lot just every now and then what could it be and how do I treat it I cannot see anything on them any help will be most appreciated thank you

Thats the trouble people think the staffy is aggressive but not so they are probably the most friendly natured of all the terriers then I would say the Jack Russell is next in line my daughter had a pure black staffy and her 1yr old at the time was able to sit down beside him while he was chewing on a bone and take it off him and god forbid put it in her own mouth and never had a problem with other children or adults and in saying that I think it all comes down as to how you bring your pet up

Staffy they are a medium size dog and absoutley fantastic with children

I blended everything really well so no carrot bits floating around after 5 mins nothing left they loved it
