I will try putting the ceramic media between the baffles first I guess they will need to go into a bag is that correct and the Porte foam in the outlet compartment I have one heater in the other compartment with the pump the other heater in the tank couldn't fit them both in the sump which was a bigger

  3. I have really appreciate everyone's help and i will do what Shiloh has said I am sure it is the baffles that is the fault someone once said the sump looks like a salt water one
  4. There is a gap under the middle baffle so have I got the wrong sump built and what can I do about it now thanks
  5. there is a lot of water flowing into the sump I have 2 poret foam between the baffles it dosent seem to be getting enough water in the 2nd side of the sump where the pump is we started it off on the highest flow 10 just about blew the sand out of the tank turned it down to setting 1 and it was better had the valve right open the water was shooting over the middle baffle if we turned the pump up a little the sump where the pump is would have run dry my outlets are 40mm and the return is 32mm what have I done wrong
  6. I got the 9000 Jebo and even on 1 it is too powerful hoping supplier will take it back and replace it with 4000 hopefully that will not be too small what do you think

  8. Hi I am not far away from filling my new 650ltr tank what I need to know is my other tank has black alge in it will It be ok to use some of that water

  10. I am doing a herbie overflow 2 42mm holes for the drains and the return up and over into the tank or do you think I should drill another hole for the return
  11. ok Im thinking maybe a 7000 or 8000 then I have room to dial it down to a suitable flow

  13. Thank you the tank will be fresh water with cichlids from the bottom of the sump to the top of the tank is 1.4mtrs
  14. Hi my main tank is 1.800x600x600 648ltrs the sump is 900x400x400 144ltrs what size return pump should I need I am looking at the Jebao thanks and also what size wave maker x2
  15. Thanks guys for your reply's I will post some pics when finished it is coming along nicely and I think I will silicon it in right around hope I will never have to take it out
  16. I was going to try to get away from doing that and have it holding with the substrate and jamming it against the top brace do you think that will work

    Cabinet

    Is there any one in the dunedin area know of some one whom could build me a cabinet for my new tank which is 1.800 L by 600 Deep thanks
  19. I am curious about the wave maker with noise and vibration do the fish worry about it I have cichlids they must hear the noise it would drive me crazy would it drive them crazy I have it going all the time what do you all think

Hi Greg has also built my tank 1.800x600x600 I have no idea of sumps so relied on his expertise on the holes etc he has suggested 42mm I have been looking into a Jebao DCT 9000 need to find out if that size will be ok with my volume of water 648ltrs I already have cichlids in another tank of 450ltrs and love them they have all grown up together blue dolphins yellows and pink convicts all get on well and some catfish I am enjoying ready your story and am looking at some of the Ideas you have been sent they are helpful my tank will be on its way next week now the cabinet

  22. Hi can anybody tell me what size holes I should have for a sump for pipework the main tank being 648 ltrs and what else should I know about like pump make and size thanks any information appreciated
  23. I am getting Greg to build a new tank for me it is 650ltrs 1.800L by 600W by 600H what size plumbing would I be best to go with for a sump and motor he needs to know the size holes to drill this is all new to me I need lots of help please
