  1. Damn, didn't realise you could do salt water in a tank that small. Looks cool! *eyes current cold water tank on bench*
  2. How long before the water goes that colour? Mine is still opaque...maybe I should put in more yeast??
  3. I had to google that, MAN those fishies are Huuuuuuge!
  4. 6 fish are MUCH easier to accommodate than 6 rabbits LOL!
  5. Have an unexpected litter of rabbits, and last night have yet another litter :-? . Need to get rid of 6, 7 week old baby rabbits asap. They are dwarf lop ear crosses, I think more dwarf though as their parents ears haven't drooped. Mr Rabbit 1 has had the snip, and Mr Rabbit 2 has gone to a new home already  . Free but will swap for fish  .
  6. hehehe, we've got 5 here too, but at least 4 of them go
  7. Oops, sorry! I'm a bit blind
  8. I think we have 2x 300w on our 900 litre tank.
  9. Where can I buy the mag please? Sounds awesome!
  10. We've taken a 8 year break. Kids came along and required the bedroom space the fish were in  , I was also working full time. I'm not working anymore and I'm bored so getting right back into the swing of it (as soon as we get the insurance money to replace the tanks we lost that is  ).
  11. My froggie tank, finally finished to my satisfaction (well at least right now it satisfies me !) Some of my wee fella's:
  12. Yup, I hung up on them because they rang my shop while I was really busy. Really flippin annoying aye!!

Could you buy something to screw onto the top of a soda stream cannister or wouldn't that work?
  14. Will you be there Saturday Navarre? I'm aiming to come .
  15. So that's ok to use? Where can I get propogating sand from? I only askled about sandpit sand because I've got junk mail here that has sterilized sandpit sand in it on special.
  16. Sorry, couldn't think of a better title... So, we've always used gravel at the bottom of the tank cause that's all we knew, I picked up a trademe purchase from someone's home and their tank had dirt, sand and gravel in the bottom. I'd never seen anything like it but it looked so much nicer than just gravel, and the plants were doing really well (given there was a co2 thingie going, scuse my technical terms here  ). So, for someone that had never seen that before to now be seriously considering it what do I need to know? What was the "dirt" cause I'm guessing it wasn't potting mix  . Could I put a layer of something like you plant pond plants in, then sandpit sand, then fine gravel over the top? Would that work and not cloud the water?? Many thanks!
  17. We've got these: http://www.mitre10.co.nz/index.cfm?mid= ... 3337&sid=6 we've had 4 running from 2 years to 6 years and never had a problem .
  18. I'll have to give this one a miss as I hadn't realised it was the same night as the rolleston fire works display (which I've already promised the kids we could go to). See ya at the next one?
  19. Nope, everyone has a couple different ones, it's just that only one is widely promoted . Some of mine are Amethyst, Ruby, Bloodstone and Jasper.
  20. Hey dcase, we're practically neighbours! Lucky for us we didn't loose power though. Pity I hadn't found this forum before the quake, you could have put your fishies in our place. We are still waiting for the assessors as well, patience is a virtue I'm fast running out of, and having found yet more concerning damage today I'm going to ring on Monday and see if I can get an eta. Not holding my breath though  .
