    Bugger!

well simply don't spend money there again lol, 2 petshops were rude to me and I haven't spent a dollar there because of it. You should put kribs in one of those big tanks make a huge breeding setup! would be epic

    Bugger!

:tears: omg that is terrible &c:ry probably the worst story of fish losses I have ever heard! Did you contact the place you got the fish from? surely they would have experienced the same losses? an sold the fish on regardless? terrible news dude, don't give up!
  3. they are great dogs, would be a very good first dog, an they get along with children well. but as usual it depends on how you raise them just as others have said, its all in the owner
  4. an then? its not possible to join after the new year?
  5. i think you'll find 2-3 locust hold ALOT more nutrients than a mice
  6. yea an unfortunately ive seen it first hand with friends an familys pets, when I say to them "hey heres how it is" they instantly get defensive so now i just apologize an call my dog to move on. currently training our lab for agility maybe you'll see me on tux dogs show one day its a shame the earthquake has ruined our routine an training classes
  7. I think its wrong just because its not natural. yes they eat them in the wild but generally its not a young infant that gets tossed onto there land. still do what ya wana do p.s locust are good nutrition
  8. IMO small dogs are trained by fat house wives an in return end up being spoilt little yappers that pick fights they can't win. just today I saw this nice young girl ( ) running with her dog an this old man walking his jack russel (OFF THE LEASH idiot), the jack russel ran up an instantly fought with the bigger dog unprovoked an ive seen it happen time an time again(almost got out of car to help this poor girl she had no idea what to do) if you want to keep a small dog, make sure its WELL trained with humans AND dogs, its very important you take it to classes or the park on a regular basis at a younger age.its a dog just the same as a big one it NEEDS social interaction its not a toy, its not a play pet, its not your handbag accessory. sorry for the rant but the amount of times ive hand my very well trained lab get into pecking fights with smaller dogs..ive lost count. I think the worst thing about it all is usually the people with small dogs are stuck up an think its your dogs fault, il have you know my dog only ever wants to play with dogs it sees. Its so obvious in the way the smaller dogs behave an ive met alot of small dogs that are well trained an very acceptable to other dogs. my worthless 2 cents but something to think about
  9. lol, i am very well. never been better infact. can't wait to get my new tanks an get some breeding going . wait till you see my new tanks they are so awesome, i got these awesome cabinets from work(cause we are closing down shop in chch ) its gona look so cool!
  10. hmmm thats an interesting thought as I have 2 females, He wasn't always huge, but he was definitely bigger it seems he just eats more an does more swimming than the others, hes always the first to the top of water an hes always bullying to get his feed first lol
  11. eheim have really good filters, I've used those halia/blue planet ones an eheim is definitely the way to go. sponge filters are better for small fry mainly in the early stages. Sumps are wicked but a hassle to setup an for a smaller tank id just go with an external. It also depends on what fish you keep an how stocked the tank is.....
  12. hmmm it could have something to do with earthquake seriously he is twice as big as the next biggest baby... an its getting to the point where he can probably eat the smaller babies  Now that I think back to the fry tank(now broken) there was always 1 bigger than the rest, Straight outa mothers mouth within the first week I noticed 1 that was definitely larger than the other 25... I wonder if its the same fish? so hes about say 3 months old now.... an hes already have the size of the adults if not 2/3 the size very weird Il try get a pic for you guys so you can see how huge he is compared to the others (p.s your krib "big daddy" is starting to get a fat belly  )
  13. I am slowly but surely rounding up my baby peacocks that are left to pass them on to a new home seem as 2/3 tanks was broken in the quake I've got 2 batchs of babies in the same tank, some have barely grown at all an are only 1cm an most have grown to about 2-3cm the random thing is I have 1 HUGE one, hes pushing 5cms now, and is at least double the size of any of his brothers an sisters. hes very playful an aggressive its really odd how big he is compared to the others of the same tank an batches is this a very common thing? :dunno: im tempted to keep him just to see how he grows out
  14. theres a chap on opawa rd who has artisan well water coming out of a tap that goes out to the road, so you can just walk up fill your water containers an go, assuming you need it for a water change? I've been using well water since the quake with no problems although I am keeping the ratio down just incase any toxic water is there id rather to lots of small changes to monitor any effects. I would highly recommend that you test the tank with a small amount of water first just incase its around 135 opawa road an you cant miss it when driving past http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?q=opawa%2 ... =en&tab=wl
  15. how big is this tank? your dosing alot of co2 considering... on my 300L i use 2 bottles each with 1 cup of sugar an half a tablespoon of yeast(usually i do it like replace 1 bottle every weekend).although I havent been doing this lately due to earth quake. all im saying is you could cut back on the co2 until plants can catch upto the rate of growth an also 100w of lighting is alot is it not?
  16. I got co2 hooked upto a 3way valve at night i just change which side the co2 comes out of an in morning i flick it back onto the tank feed one of these http://www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz/deta ... ve/m/1100/ i got it setup so 2 bottles join at each side then one of the 3 exits goes into a filter in tank, then simply just twist 2 of the valves an the co2 goes into the room instead of tank let me know if you need pics to explain
  17. will bring heaters around when I can, or if you want you could meet me halfway if anyone else can help Jen out plz do, she has ALOT of fish in her garage lol also unrelated but I have a 3ftx1ftx1ft tank with a very minor crack in a corner, could be converted to a reptile/frog tank or anything without water in it, FREE TO GOOD HOME...
  18. thanks everyone il be sure to post if any deaths arrise but my filter is going pretty strongly good ole fluval external also made me laugh about buying bottled water to fill up tank  , its like a 150L water change would cost huge amounts an thats if you could even find a shop that had any in stock
  19. Just wondering if its still safe to use the water out of tap for fish tank refills? ive lost about 80litres out of my tank an stock has increased since the quake due to breakages and i really need to do a water change in the next couple of days... what do you guys reckon? also will my freshwater master test kit be able to pickup any bad things in tap water?
