yea mines 2 m from my head at night. i found taking the top reduces it some what and doesn't splash much as i have it on the lowest setting. i sound technical but really i just wing it and hope it works out. though should bropably do it properly for an expensive tank lol
i probably won't do irt i always have ideas od tinkering and stoff with tanks. no sorry i use the word sump to liberaly. more like a mini external though if i could get a tidy enough over flow box that would fit in the top that could work and just have a similar flow back into the tank like the hnag on filter. then i could hide the overflow up the top. though the water does evaporate rather fast in mine so would need to keep topping it up. maybe if i just extend the hang on down so i can fit a heater in there. ok now i'm not going to be able to study all day and going to be thinking about all this modifying lol
air into the tank over night is good. i never turned mine off but found the fish to be gasping in the mornign as the plants use O2 at night and CO2 during the day. an air supply is important to keep the fish happy. and lots of plants would lever out the pH swings wouldn't it?
the ones that seem to be incased in plastic? i think they have diff heatinh volume values or something.
i was thinking last night that if i managed to make a small sump in the back i could hide the heater all together.
um i just looked up leds that were GU-4 sheilded type 10W 12V. ordered some off ebay last week so will seee how they go and will let you know. but as some have said earlier on in this thread they may light up just as little of the tank. will be better with white thight though. and eventually if that works i'm thinking of getting a few blue LEDs for night time viewing. i had a n elite which has never let me down untill last week. got a sera 25W in there now. seen lots on line with the fluval 25W ones and they look good next to the out take but they are pricey
just your average 25W heater. used to have a 50W but it decided the thermostate wasn,t needed lol. only thing i'm finding a problem is cleaning lol gets dirty to fast
yea was thinking full out planted sth american biotope(ish) but probably just another one for the book lol
i should really start writting all these down
i.d be worried of something getting out lol or in. was watching my little SEA jumping out of the water in my bucket the other day when i redid the stones lol had to put a towel ontop to stop them getting out
rainbow sharks can be kept in comunities. i've had afew in with dwarf cichlids, gourami, tetras siamese fightes and they were fine. as long as there are no other fish that look similar to another shark
yea it's amost cheap looking. shame they never made a size up of the edge though i din't know how well that would work with the weight and partial base
