  1. It's a Tongan tank with a spell on it

    Tiger Oscar

Oscars and others of their size are too big and destructive for me. I like the chunky middle sized fish like blue acaras

    ID please?

Post it in the Community Tank Aqua as off-ice may be able to ID it for you.

    Tiger Oscar

Oscars require a BIG tank Other than that, good filtration, as they are messy fish when feeding and always dig up the substrate too. Plants don't last at all. Temp: 24 - 28C pH: 6.5 - 7.0
  5. Haven't bred them personally but know someone who has so it is possible. Sex differences are slight. Dorsal and anal fins on the males are slightly more pointed and the female is wider. The male kissing gourami doesn't build a bubble nest like other gouramis, they spawn in the bottom layers of the water and the eggs rise and stick to plants, or float on the surface. The parents don't care for the eggs or fry so should be removed after spawning. Incubation period is around 50 hours. Good luck!
  6. Robbo you asked about cost per page. The HP gives around 11 - 12c per page of text only whereas the laser does it for 6c To buy the consumables though is expensive because they hold lots more ink. The imaging unit (which is 4 drums) has to be replaced every 30,000 sheets and costs around $600. The colours are $300 each and the black about $100. Costs vary a lot depending on whether it is text or photos of course. The major advantage is speed - especially in duplex mode. It does 16 pages per minute colour or black but in duplex mode it drops to about 5 (double sided). When we printed the last Aquarium World, it was one of several print jobs I was doing at the time and it cost us over $2,300 in consumables over a a week! That doesn't include the cost of the paper itself either and more costs since. It is ongoing but we love the printer. We make enough to just cover our costs and replace the consumables as required.
  7. Kapi-Mana seem to have a lot of non-fishy social outings too. I hear they have been 10 pin bowling and go-karting recently.
  8. Did you know we have a plant section here (and I don't mean this thread)? Click on the 'fnzas.org is here' at the top of the page then select 'Plant Survey' then select the plant you want. According to this publication... Propagation: Removing and separating young plantlets from the floral stalk encourage speedy reproduction.
  9. We have the HP970 cxi too. Having had to strip and clean too many printers after refill use we would not use anything but the real McCoy! You think the cartridges are expensive, try buying colour toners for a colour laser!
  10. That was my understanding too.
  11. We recommend the right ink for your printer and do not like the cheap ones or refills. We sell all the common brands sold with printers.
  12. Oscars are good at sulking aren't they?
  13. Good to see you Craig. Welcome. Hope you find lots of help here if required.

    Hey

You feed your cory eggs? :-? Welcome to the fishroom David. There seem to be a number here who like the 'tank busters'.
  15. Rob we sell and repair computers (not Macs), printers, scanners etc. We also sell digital cameras and anything else that goes into, or attaches to, a computer. This also includes selling specialty papers, inks and all that other sort of stuff. Grant actually does the computing side while I do design and printing. I bought him an MX5 convertible and suggested he could buy me a colour laser in return, which he did. Now we are both happy and share our toys with each other.
  16. Hi Rob and welcome. The nearest club to you is Kapi-Mana and they are very active with several of their members belonging to this forum. You sound like us - my husband and I have been keeping fish for around 20 years and he is a computer tech too (also does radio link work for Telecom and Vodafone) and we have our own computer company working from home.
  17. It's a dream Warren so your power would be free
  18. Very nice pics Andrew, and nice fish too
  19. It should be fine as long as the pump works well to keep the water flowing through. I have never had an UGF go bad (fins crossed). How do you get an UGF into a tank which already has fish and gravel in it? Not easy but possible I guess. :-?
  20. Do you vacuum the gravel when you do water changes? If nothing is wrong with the tanks then leave the filters as they are. I have run UGFs continually for many years without cleaning them out - which requires a total tank strip. Some people say plants don't grow so well with UGFs but I never had a problem.

    Finding Nemo

That would be telling! Go see it with the grandchidren Pegasus

    Finding Nemo

You've gotta go see this film! I loved it! Might even say it is better than Shrek. My mother now wants to know how we could be so cruel to keep fish in tanks  My favourites in the film were the seagulls, turtles and Dory, the blue tang with the short term memory loss.

    Finding Nemo

Well, I am off to find Nemo this lunchtime. Want to see it before school holidays start and the theatre is full of noisy kids  Going to Subway for lunch then see the film with mum and dad, then meet up with friends for afternoon tea in a cafe in town. A nice way to spend a cold, wet (Yay! we NEED the rain) afternoon. Boy some of us have a hard life! I deserve some time off.
  24. Ah, you are quite right Ira. Thank you, I stand corrected. I was mixing topping up with water changes.
