  1. it was eaten by an owl and then regurgitated
  2. It seems all the bigger fry have now gotten into this habit of squiggling on the top of the riccia. It's funny to watch, a bit like a small dog trying to run through water that is deeper than it's legs  They must be rather trusting to lie there as they are under the light too and they eat their dinner up there, they don't take the food away once it's in their mouths. It seems that I am less of a worry to them than the male hehe
  3. walkerii crypt has not had any of the holes etc since I stopped the excel.
  4. killies that are smaller than a rummy nose would be clowns. A full grown rummy nose, maybe you'd be able to choose something else but clowns are the smallest killies as far as I know.
  5. Live fry surprise! I have given up counting mine, too many!
  6. what's a nano to you again? something like 80 litres? (pretty plants you have 8) )
  7. how big is the tank? I'm wondering if you get a pair of rams and they breed, will you be upset when the tetra go after the fry? The cardinals I had went nuts for freshly born guppy fry.
  8. yep, lowest maintenance possible for offices like, fish on an LCD screen inside the tank.......
  9. thanks it seemed to take off after I removed the duckweed but that could have been an optical illusion - I wouldn't have seen it very well before
  10. Ice222 did you get to the bottom of this one? I've found a clump of brown candy floss growing in a part of my riccia which is right under the light. It can be twirled out on a stick etc. Stuff I could do: stop the ferts (daily flourish comp), add the other bulb to make it 2 x 8 watt T5 14,000K colour, turn the lights off, stop feeding the fish for a while, plop it out and wash it in algae rid... the only other algae I've had in the tank has been a bit of green spot on the glass that appears occasionally and is currently on holiday. Never had diatoms or any other pains. My theory is that the 14000k light has little or no red colour that feeds algae and plants?? anyway - what of brown candy floss. I'd eat it but it doesn't look tasty. Do oto eat it?
  11. i don't think oto eat brush or beard algae they like soft green stuff and rasping on wood. or they did when I had them anyway
  12. you did your best now you can think of it as an excuse to buy more! Cories are happiest in small groups, I had fun with 7 of them
  13. I just wrap fishing nylon around the log a couple of times in a way that holds at least one big leaf in place and hopefully the base, to the wood and do a couple of normal shoe tying type knots. If it's not in the flow of current or constantly getting poked about then it will be fine. Also I have strung black cable ties together in the past where the log was a good enough shape to work and Adrienne (who now has the log) says the plants did attach. Or like the others say, do your knots and then superglue on the knot to hold it. Java moss I did the same but wrapped the nylon around and then fluffed the moss up so you couldn't see the line.

    My two tanks

While some don't like ornaments in a tank, I think they look alright in this case because there are lots of them. When it is the obvious theme, it fits together and you can see a little picture. When there is only 1 of this and that it can look random and not so good. I had a book from the library about decorating fish tanks and there were all sort of unnatural creations, but when arranged carefully and with a definite theme, you could see what they were trying to achieve.
  15. I do like long swaying plants at the front corners so they create a frame around the edges
  16. I like the grass long, wouldn't change anything except add some critters
  17. this is great, I love it - bumping it back to the top because it's so cool a French man breeding frogs.... chomp chomp!!

    live foods

Ethically speaking I see no difference between breeding worms to feed to the fish (which I do) to breeding any other creature to feed to your creature.
  19. does he have any sand in there? if there's some sand you will see him freeze with excitement and then start burrowing about like a crazed rabbit. In the event that I win Lotto, buy a house, and start a fish room, one of my tanks will be a corydora-only tank with sand on the bottom. I had 7 peppered cories before this tank, I love them
  20. the dosage is slightly different for each product as well
  21. my female kille bumped into something while trying to escape her boyfriend and has had a wound on her mouth face for a couple of weeks. The water has tonic salts and is well-changed but I think these things generally take a little bit of time to heal up and I think the fluffy thing is normal as mine has a bit of that. She is still eating and zips around like a crazed beast the rest of the time. I had another killie that also got injured while egg making and she healed up OK
  22. we can't tell you till you post some pictures of your tank again just kidding, I don't know the answer

    Moths.....

i drop them into a cup of water to keep them busy while i catch a few. if they climb up the side i just swirl the water about to wash them back down. after that they will hate you more than you hate them haha

    Moths.....

you've inspired me to go moth catching and feed them to my killies. I suspect they will go down the hatch and then out the other end quite quickly. They also love ants - they scrabble around on the surface and the fish look sideways and up before grabbing them.
