I think it has enough light, the crypts and tiger lotus are closer to the bottom and they are fine.
I was looking for a hidey fish this morning and I think I saw a green shoot, will have a poke around later and see if it is what I thought
not yet that I can see but it's not from lack of looking and wishing and keeping the ferts regular haha. There are some bright green stem/rhizome bits lingering and feeding my clutching at straws. If it's anything like the bolbitis (now a black root ball still tied to the wood) those were the last bits to die anyway.
The only thing I haven't done is sing to it. Maybe that's what's missing, I'd better learn to yodel
i like the title of that
those evil critters tried to take over my body at the beach once - me the unsuspecting daughter in law thought it seemed like a good idea to wash down a boat in the shallows :-?
Well well, look who wasted no time getting down to business this evening
They like to ‘do it’ against the glass right in the middle of the lounge
When these pictures were taken they were just snuggling side by side quietly.... waiting for lights out 8)
2 tiny fry in the riccia roaming about the specks - that's 6 mid to big fry and 2 tiny ones spotted
here are some pics I took this evening
1 of the teeny tiny fry
I think these are girls – mid size range
Prizes for finding all 3
6 fry at feeding time after 3 of the adults moved out. You can tell the first guy as he is that little bit bigger than the rest. The rest seem to be of about 3 sizes. Now that the big guys are gone, they are much more confident so they will get a bit more food too now.
I always have to look twice and there he is smiling like nothing's wrong haha
Tank update
Big Daddy and 2 of the Supremes have moved out to seek their fortunes in the Big City ie they have gone to live at another fish keeper's house.
Now just a single pair and lots of fry. The nice thing was as soon as the 3 bigger fish left, I put some food in, and 6 fry came out to feed. This 6 I previously thought were 4. This doesn't even include the super mini fry I saw yesterday so I may actually have 10 in there after all. Time will tell :bounce:
Joefish
growing moss on the filter sounds romantic but the reason why I want to move the log is because the moss in front of the filter gets grubby from all the mulm being sucked in. The filter does have algae though haha
EJ
The windelov is tied with fishing nylon to a log, it's not in the gravel. I'm still living in hope that it will perk up again, there are still some green parts.
I am starting to think it's a new variety, called Brown Windelov  It had such lovely long furry roots when I got it too.
My fry stay back from the larger fish at feeding time so I crush dried flake and dried brine shrimp into some water and then using a dropper I fire it into the back of the tank where they hang out.
thanks Joefish, I've just been talking myself out of moving the log to the other side and covering the front of the filter area with the tall swaying plants... what do you think?
they are breeding faster than I can keep up with, soon the tank will be over stocked. Have posted a thread on the killie trade forum to see if anyone would like a trio of randy breeders 8)
thanks for the info Simon. When the little crypts get bigger I will send you a pic to identify them .
I might be able to cull the riccia later but at the moment the fish and their fry enjoy hiding in it.
here is King Fry/Fry 1/Bolshy going about his fishy business
actually Barrie I was quite relieved to see them under there, I've been worried about the fry getting sucked into the filter but after today I can see there is very little 'suckage' from the way they were swimming.
Full tank shot taken today.
Changes since last time, moss on the log, dwarf chain sword in the foreground, more crypts, riccia stone done away with.
Windelov not happy, have trimmed some back to see if it sprouts somewhere I live in hope
