  1. If it doesn't hurt anymore when you sit on the seat then the damage is done already... it's too late.... and don't forget to shave your legs
  2. When we blew up lungs at school it meant that the teacher had some kind of animal lung on the table and we all gathered around. You were supposed to blow into the lung with a straw and one idiot forgot to take his mouth off the straw after blowing so got some lung juice back again  (not me thank you) aah school, the days I will never forget, though I wish I could
  3. when I first fed my fish mozzie larvae they didn't realise they were going to move so quickly and it took them a moment to realise they actually had to try and catch the faster ones
  4. APPARENTLY according to Aquarium world magazine if you dump a cloud of daphnia in there they will eat the whitespot... or something like that.... that is if the fish don't eat the daphnia first.
  5. For those who like to drool at other people's tanks, have a look at these. http://www.aquahobby.com/e_tanks.php !drool: !drool: !drool: and lots of
  6. You do pass through Green Bay to get there if you come from Hillsborough way. I might even come on such a trip if it wasn't at night. Oh, I forgot to mention - at the park there are long drop toilets only..... the sort where people don't put the lids down so there are flies buzzing about. Best toilets are back at Huia where there is a little park, before you go over a bridge. Little Huia I think it's called.
  7. Looks great and I like the black background too. My twisted val grew like a weed under those sort of lights Is the Pearl weed the one in the middle that looks like Thyme? I really like that

    Pygmy Cories

I am thinking I will get me some corydora again soon. I love those little guys
  9. Today I went to Karamatura forest park in the Waitakere ranges, just past Huia and there are streams galore in there. Many are fast flowing but along the loop walk there are tiny pockets of water that has come from up the hill - I saw what looked like a tiny spider on top of the water, too small and not enough light to get a good look though. Very nice to place to go for a walk - I can't vouch that there are critters to be caught but I would certainly think there would be. An experienced fisher would know which rocks to look under If you haven't been, head for Titirangi Village, then at the Sculpture roundabout take Huia Rd and follow it till you get to the Historic museum. Past Woodlands Park and Laingholm, just before the museum on the opposite side of the road is the entrance to the park.
  10. here is a thumbnail of a bee photo I took this afternoon Thumbnail so all detail not ruined by compressing the file
  11. thanks P44 :happy2: I can't move those rocks or I will upset the crypts and they are only just settled in. They look a little more in perspective and flatter in real life when you stand in front. The things I am happiest about you can't really see - I have 2 narrow java plantlets from Jennifer that are stuck to the sticking up bit of log that are growing more leaves (and I believe the ones in my low-low tech tank are growing even faster) and the java ferns and windelov that I killed and saved the tiniest scraps of are all growing. One day I will pull back the moss curtain and ta-daaaa I will have a plant covered log 8) I think I have the ferts just about right too - I added a dose of flourish excel about 3 weeks ago after starving them for a month and the wisps of brown algae on the moss disappeared. On Monday I noticed a few back again so gave another dose and it's gone again. I had also seen green spot on a new val leaf that I also haven't seen again. So that's 5-6 hours light, JBL balls and fortnightly dosing. And it's still the random 14000k tube that came with the light as well.
  12. They were special but they could still be hiding - Is it sand in the bottom or gravel? If it's a dark bottom they can hide pretty well. Also check the filter, I lost those 4 - they had to have either died and been eaten or found a way to get into the filter. I had to move my 2nd male into the fry tank because he spent so much time hiding I could barely get him to eat. He would come out just about when I had given up. Now instead of being the smallest he's one of the largest so he's getting much more food. Also if they are 2 males they probably won't be hanging out together, they will be enemies!
  13. Tank update - getting greener and greener Short Killie action movie Front Through left side Left side crypt garden – slowly but surely they are getting more leaves! Right side log with more crypts in front Log, lotus and a shimmer of a fish
