  1. hahaha you can't suck me into your raging MTS :rotf:
  2. my tanks sit somewhere between 7.4 and 7.6, and it's ok for me, some of my fish have bred. Trying to get to the perfect neutral 7 is very difficult and probably a waste of energy.
  3. And if you use seawater you would get useful micro-critters too I reckon.

    Hardscape Help!

I don't think the silica mixing elsewhere will be enough of a problem not to do it. As Dan said, you can just top up a bit extra from time to time if it's gets low. You won't see much if any of it that gets back to the gravel as it will just fall through the cracks. If it does get too annoying you can just cover it with gravel or suck it out with gravel vac.

  10. me too, I say I expect to be pampered but I am usually just barely tolerated when sick and grumpy :sml2:
  11. and Li@m does tricks too - give him a toffee pop and you will see we could do 'how long does it take Li@m to get the toffeepop to his mouth trick' for $2 a 'pop'. Closest guess gets to eat the rest of the toffee pops
  12. when I am sick I require to be waited on, pampered, and to otherwise get with murder. If that doesn't happen I get more grumpy and then a fight breaks out :rotf:

I am home from work with my woman-cold so have got an old Humphrey Bogart movie to entertain me 'tis The Big Sleep, and if DeepSound is around I also got 'Le fils de l'épicier' which I will of course watch with english subtitles
  16. WHAT! I spent half an hour rootling around in the tank and couldn't find that loach and came here to post. I went back now to check again on the way elsewhere and it's back again! He must have been in the other driftwood somewhere. Why the little..................... :an!gry When I move them to their new tank I am going to investigate said hole once and for all

    I have a sore throat today. :an!gry
  18. Mr Skinny still alive! I thought he was dead. Prepared a clove oil bath for him to send him on his way but he had enough energy to wriggle away a number of times. Another oddity this afternoon however, one of the other loaches has disappeared. Have taken out the filter, one of the woods, no dead fish, no carcass. I have looked all over the floor and nearby. There is one other wood to take out but as it is where Mr Skinny is I prefer to leave it till he has died. Or should I move it? what has gotten into my fish :nilly:
  19. Mr Skinny is back 'home' now, I put him back after his 24 hours in hospital were up. He moves around a bit with the group but mostly rests against a piece of driftwood ouf of the current. I think he has nibbled at passing morsels but he isn't really eating. The other loaches mill around him, sit on him and nudge him etc. He was still alive this morning which was a surprise.
