I wouldn't worry about the worm, or if you are just catch it and chuck it out, oops I mean euthanise it. Low tech generally means low light and little or no fertilisers.

After a week in the garage tank I decided his tail was too cumbersome for him to get a good swim on those fry so popped him in the main tank today. His first point of call was to go after fry but they were too quick and like BikBok said, it was a short chase and then gave up. He can't summon enough energy to give more than a couple of squeezes of his tail and then loses interest. Will post a photo when I get some camera batteries.

check the twisted val is not buried, it likes to sit with only it's actual roots in the gravel so if there are any green bits covered up, just wiggle it out a bit so you can see the roots. Any green bits that are in the gravel will wither off and die. If the roots are not big enough to weigh the plant down you could put a stone over the top of the root. I don't think dwarf sag objects to being planted right into the gravel.
