  1. this is where I contribute an appropriate cat picture to the discussion
  2. It goes on my stomach and that's where I notice it most. It's not that I believe I look overweight but most of my summer clothes fit me more comfortably when I'm about a kilo lighter. I can't seem to find a balance between exercising and food, either I'm hungry all the time and losing weight, or not hungry and it starts to creep on. :dunno:
  3. I put on 300g, which takes me over my 'limit' by a kg. I think am eating too many treats on weekends so am going to have to be more disciplined and/or limit my dinner portions more during the week. Eating right is such a bore :yaw1:

  5. very nice, I like the 'grass' growing in front of the rocks cute little fish
  6. even if the predictions were true what would you do, book a flight and leave the country? it's business as usual really isn't it. Even when Ken Ring and the Earthquake commission people were predicting stuff in christchurch that wasn't far off the mark most people didn't do anything about it.

    The What's Up? thread.

I started with the little flat ramshorn type snail that come on the plants usually, and was given some normal pond snails. I think the ramshorns were reproducing slowly but it appeared that the older ones were dying off or shells going white when they got to edible age. Probably I just didn't give it long enough as usual but it was a waste of a tank.

Moved my snail breeding experiment into the outdoor pond and took down the tank they were in. Even though I fed them and gave calcium bites and plant leaves, they were not thriving, due to lack of food and/or light and/or warmth for some. The pond is growing a huge population of freshwater limpets so conditions must be alright for some sorts of snail at least.

    The What's Up? thread.

Today I got a new shirt for my husband to 95% finished state and then realised I'd sewn the buttonholes too far over and I may not be able to fix it, a terminal error. I am not very pleased with myself ....... need to stop being mad so I can think of solutions
  13. can probably save one from a Sea Mart if you're desperate
  14. My filters were good when running for only 14 hours a day, back when I was a noob with a noisy hang on back filter that kept me awake at night and didn't know better. I had the same amm/nitrate/nitrite readings on that tank as I do on my current tanks that are filtered all the time. I think you should prevent them drying out though, like keep them in a bucket of water with some of the previous water.
  15. I think they should be seperated because it's a different field of expertise and subject. Reptiles/amphibians seem to be naturally still long enough and more often than a fish so the repto-photographer has a higher chance of getting a good shot than of a fish-ographer. Also many reptiles/amphibians would not be having their photo taken through glass and in natural light, again frequently different to a fish photo situation. Plus we'd get to vote twice, which we can't on one competition
