  1. You now sell and then spend your commission immediately again?
  2. Is it a job at Animates too? You could have sales competitions with Josh and CritterCrazy
  3. urf, that is not a happy ending. Though I can testify that I have PAINSTAKINGLY picked duckweed out of riccia before ... it is doable if you like watching paint dry and grass grow. Or you could buy a new batch from someone, it's usually only about $5 on TM

  5. lucky those instructions were written in such good engrish for you Sam how noisy the filter??
  6. here's another set of happy new year wishes from me....
  7. I remembered wrong, thought it was native marine
  8. Why is a nano marine so much more difficult than a nano freshwater/tropical? People always say small tanks are harder to control than larger ones. Also Mcrudd, you were looking at a native tank, if you went tropical the temperature rising wouldn't be as much of a problem, if at all. Tropicals are expensive but.
  9. Yep they're good and once you get the hang of them they are easy to keep (I've killed a couple of cultures). I keep mine in a lunchbox inside a shoebox inside the fish cabinet so you can't smell them till I get them out and take the lid off.
  10. The Incorrigible Fiddler went to work again today... instead of marbles in Tank 2/Erythromicrons I've put a thick layer of the $2 sized river pebbles in. Random enough sizes for eggs to fall through, thick enough layer that it should discourage the fish from burrowing. Since TheObstacle used these and had lots of corydora fry I thought it might work for the danios too. Also gave them a couple of bits of broken terracotta pot where they like to hide. I moved their original moss clump out and gave them another in case there were any eggs hiding in there. Still no more eggy action in Tank 1/CPD. 2 fry are still alive though.
  11. my pond snails also float about and a few come out of the water too, unless they are all doing it, I wouldn't worry.
  12. They are semi-easy to care for - they are territorial so in a 40 litre tank I wouldn't have more than 2 or 3 at most. They also prefer live food over dried food, so unless you somehow get some already conditioned to dried you will rarely see them going for flake or bottom feeder food etc. Mine have been going for it rarely and only in the last few weeks. The males are the ones with colours, I don't know how they behave when there are females, probably a bit more aggressive from male to male, but I've never seen the females available anyway. They'd probably be quite good with pygmies, they are compatible sizes anyway.
  13. I didn't have a heated thing to cut polystyrene but if you have a sharp and long box cutter type knife you can gently saw a clean cut without mess.

I have some good photos from the Wither Hills walk - is that where there is an old silo or grain storer with no roof at the top? could it have been the pavlova you ate the day before? :digH:

what are the amounts of the other bits?
  17. Oh they look sweet but they have a temper and quite a personality. They also chase the CPDs for live food if it's hanging out of their mouths and it's something they want. Haven't seen anything more than a dart right up close which makes the other one move, haven't seen any biting thankfully. I still think they are what got the fighter but it's unproven :smln: Note to Seth if you're reading, I have seen them going for dried food since you asked me about it. Only when hungry though, and usually when sinking to the bottom rather than taken from the surface. Also I did move the lone CPD fry from the hatchery into here and it's doing much better than in the solitary tank. Got some root tabs coming in the mail to see if I can wake those crypts up again.

Beforehand I had a long walk and run so by the time I got to eat it, it didn't even touch the sides. What's your recipe? I have a book of pavlova/trifle/cheesecake recipes but the edmonds egg makes things extremely simple, no seperating of eggs etc
  19. Welcome back McRash - you could also just scoop it out with a slotted spoon when you want to do maintenance and put it back when finished... riccia is very pretty after all
