Yeah this does tarnish the reputation of hunters. It would basically strip me of 70% of my income if I couldnt go hunting anymore. Try be a little careful and considerate. You really need to make sure you know where you are going to be hunting and dont shoot off roads. If i were you I would find a friend with a farm. I hope it doesnt turn into too much of a mess for you and that you learnt a little something from it all. BTW your lucky some locals just chased you, i know of a few instances similar to this where the local shot back.

Im a little confused today, Zevs been swimming back and forth between the nest and female. Its like hes saying 'Babe come look what I did!' Shes still in the bottle, but shes dropped 4 or 5 eggs, still holding. Should I let her out?

This morning was a bit different, he started a new nest on the other side of her bottle. Hes been at it for nearly 7 hours and only stops to have a quick pose and wiggly swim at the female. Took this video earler, the nest already covers the underside of the cup completely.

Shes been in the tank with him for about 5 hours now, hes not been back to the nest much and is very occupied with her. Shes once again showing very receptive colours, and swimming head down. Hes not attacking her alot, but has some very frenzied bursts at her. He mostly swims in a clumsey looking 'S' pattern (see pic below). Shes in a plastic bottle with holes all around for water flow. Im just wanting to know, how long can this go on for? Will it stress them out to a point they are hurting themselves? Should I let her go even though the nest isnt complete yet, Ive read that some males dont make the nest till the female is released?. She seems happy in the bottle , I have a oly cup in there with her so she has something to get out of his sight. Some websites say it could take 1 - 3 days like this, seems like it might over stress the male? Any tips or criticism very much appriciated. Zev doing the 'S' dance

Alright so im trying again today, Zev has been in another tank for a week now, hes in about 25 ltrs of water at about 5 inches in depth. I made sure there was lots of nooks and hiding places, and floating plants. Water flow is down to just about nothing and the temp is just shy of 27 C. He seems much more focused in there, constantly maintaining and building his nests even when he can see the female, rather then frantically swim back and forth flaring at her he poses, fins fully flared out and pumps bubbles from his gills. Im just waiting on the lps to open for a breeding trap, I was going to use a bottle but I couldnt drill the holes without them ending up sharp on the inside, I could spend a while deburring it but Ill just get a trap Also waiting on Mum and her camera, Ill photograph and film what i can without disturbing them.

Ive had them together, by rams even spawned with the corys there. 2 rams 6 corys.

These are a few newer pics of my lil man, hes so hard to photo when hes flaring, moves around too much. You can see hes getting more pink and blue though, baby pink and baby blue are such masculine colours dont'cha think

Lions This is a 2.5 year old male, hes bigger then the 4 year old pride leader, apparently will be top cat within a year. Its either my long hair confused as a mane or im being considered for lunch, I think the later These girls were so cute, just like giant moggies Here's Max the alpha

Trout Lots of these guys had Damaged mouths, and I found a few of the younger ones with bad cases of bloat, very hard not to interfere. Pretty much, Im looking at it now its sitting on the stem of the plant I got (so tiny and cute) much deeper red though, almost chocolate. Ill keep fiddling with the camera see if I can get it to focus.

Maybe he means the thing i scored is a lancelot I been looking at these things for over an hour now, theres no many different names and they all look pretty much the same lol.

Well this is my first suprise from else where, Im gunna need to shed some excess corys ones he gets bigger though, and once they get bigger, I must have something catfishy about me, all those cory spawns I thought we're just getting munched seem to have given me some offspring. Whats a lancelot whiptail? There are those other skinny long fish too that are apparently some times mistaken for whiptails. Ive been looking for a pic that looks more like what he does but when you dont know what your searching for its kinda difficult.

Whoops sorry the plants came from Rotorua, dont know what they are lol Im terrible with plant names. Not something uncommon though.

Well thats not a pic of mine, mines tiny and I couldnt get the camera to focus on it. And its more red then yours supasi but maybe because hes so tiny I cant see any pattern. Be watching him with intrest though they look neat. There should be plenty of algae for him in the tank hes in, hope he survives and grows well.

Decided to pull her out, she was so receptive but he changed to the Zevinator, his frantic movements even broke his nest. Lucky shes alot faster both fish unharmed, perhaps some pride a lil damaged but nothing else. Im going to try again in a few days, lower the water level and a few other things..

I havnt been able to get a pic of the lil fishy that came with my plants, its just too small for mum camera, but it looks very much like one of these only darker reddish brown. Its tiny though would fit on my thumbnail. I only found it when i was seperating the plants I could feel something moving in between my fingers, i strait away dropped my hand in the closest tank and have only seen in twice since.
