yeah Im careful with my fighters and overfeeding, its what made me end up training them to feed from hand. its Very hard to feed a fighter in a community tank without over feeding them Ive been finding, they'll eat just about anything if it means another fish misses out. Thats good news n1ck! More for MEEE!!!

Ive tried haha, I cant photograph these things at night, they dash off if i get the camera close enough, I guess they dont know me like my other fish who pose. Its really nice having a constant surface fish too, brave little jumping sods they are.

I dont mind lol, infact its exciting. I can see strait through these girls and there is definetly a black spot right where that pick points. They have settled in very well though, thanks alot I love them! Very interesting to watch in a smaller group (bit hard in your guppy soup) they all move and react at the same time its cool! Ive been avoiding these fish ever since I got into fishkeeping a month ago, but Im really glad I got some now as Im enjoying them alot. What would they go like with my female fighter? Id really like something (other then another fighter) that will compete for food with her. And she just loves company, the Bolivian Rams were complete wusses so she just chased them relentlessly. acually 2ft isnt as big as i first though so my "smaller" tanks should be fine, the smallest is around 38 ltrs Thanks for the help. Now i just need to figure out what the best/cheapest filtering option is for bare bottom.

Ok makes things a little clearer, something must have upset them enough to chase you and report your plates to the police though. Another thing a kiwi hunter has to be aware and prepared for is illegal crops, this could be another reason you got chased .

Yeah I love that blue tinge but its those red eyes that got me. I love albinos though so I guess I was already interested in these before I knew about them.

I guess if I have to go as big as 2ft then Ill be better off getting my 240 ltr ready asap, then that gives me 3 smaller tanks just for fighters and 1 even smaller tank to spawn and raise fry in. So whats a good internal or hob filter that has a low flow rate?

Yeah I heard about that alanmin made me laugh serves the city folk right though. This is quite lucky you were where you were too, I know many places where your tyres would have been shot out at the very least. Not to mention what would happen when they got closer. The thing with hunting is, there are very few places you can go hunting without a permit, or permission from the land owner. You probably bit off a little more then you can chew posting this here, but I hope it helps put things into perspecitve a bit. This is for sexing them right??? Ive been looking into this for a few days now and I really cant tell, I mean I know I have both sexes, because I got lil fry turning up everywhere. But I wouldnt mind knowing whos who. The males are the ones that get 'T'd right? shes gathering the sperm packets? Do the males or females carry sperm or egg packets in their anal fins? One of them has a small white blobby thing in between its anal fin, at first I thought it might be disease but its getting smaller and last night I seen one of the other corys pushing it around in the 'T' style.

The reason I decided to go with the ugf is because of the water flow, hob and sub filters all produced way to much water flow, poor lil Zev had to work hard just to stay still let alone build a nest. I have a small section of glass under where he built the nest, I hoped that the eggs would rest well on there but unfortunetly I didnt get a chance to find out. I might go get another breeding tank tomorrow then, if anyone would be kind enough to recommend a tank size and filter model. I have the female with my corys at the moment, she strait away lost her verticle banding, but hasnt dropped any more eggs. How can encourage her to drop those eggs? She has taken no damage so it would be good to get her to drop the eggs, and start reconditioning her. I guess not feeding her for a few days? I feel mean even thinking about it my poor sweety she loves food.

shes been holding for a long time now, about 3 weeks id say perhaps more. I should really let her drop them and recondition her then. Its been a great learning curve so far, and Zev is a real sweetheart compared to what ive heard some males can be like. Would it be ok to condition her in a breeding trap in the same tank? or get a devider? I dont really want to put her in another tank just now as the bol rams are spawning right now and I have albino cory fry in the other. If i have to get another tank tomorrow I will.

Hmm no violence other then a little bit of chasing every now and then. She destroyed the nest but hes quickly rebuilding in another spot.... What im worried about however is shes still dropping eggs ever so slightly and eating them does this mean anything?? perhaps she doesnt like him or his nest? He managed to save a few eggs, not sure if he ate them or not but he went strait to the nest with them so im thinking he save them. As long as they not trying to kill each other should I leave them? or is it all over with her dropping eggs?

Did you get any of those ancient ones I gave you going? From memory it was always the contacts that needed cleaning, and Im pretty sure the Big red train (dutchess of abercorn) drives from the tender and contacts on the train. The little black train is the opposite. Be nice if you got em going, they should be getting close to being antiques so would look nice amoungst all the thomas stuff How the Guppy situation going too? I might come get a couple off you later today if your still surrounded by them.
