lady bugs freeze every winter in the northern hemisphere, they all bunch together in a big frozen lump, then in the thaw they all wonder off. a type of anti freeze in their blood by all accounts -

We got this substrate from our LFS, it looks natural and the loaches like it, only thing we find is the aqua base gets through it a bit...... we've also got a black for our comp tank but it's hard to find. Lots of people just use builders sand from the hardware store.

If it's 600 joists, I guess it must as it's standard, that's 3 joists under the tank, perhaps you could prop them up with 4x4 uprights under the house, just chock them so they're nice and firm, though I guess once there's 800 odd kgs on them they won't be going anywhere.

Aye, we have a small spring where our house water and wash water comes from, it's only about 4 meters square and perhaps a foot deep, with about a foot or so of detritus under that. If you sneek up you can see heaps of them moving around and fighting and being thoroughly crawlyish. Would it be wrong to go up and feed them do you think? as they're only wee and I'd love them to get humongous like Preacher's -

Most farmers have a few unused ones lying around that may just need a patch up they'd prolly give you for cheep as. I have several but you're a bit far away
