  2. And then me and Smidey can come round and ogle your tanks when ever we want
  3. Well it was a good day for geeks, not so good for the Whanau. Caught 5 under size kingies (my first kingies...yay) a leather jacket, a granddaddy hapuka, 3 perch, 2 Kahawai, heaps off under size snapper, and a moray eel...twice. My mate thought I was weird because I was flipping out every time we caught a new species. Anyway, It wasn't a total loss, we got a Kahawai each......over all an expensive day...but at least I got away from the farm. I did have a puke once, but I've found if you don't dwell on it and get on with the fishing you're fine. PS, I was thinking of you LA when we caught the leather jacket, thought it would make a nice addition to your native marine tank, he was only a little guy..awesome fish!
  4. Goin fishing this morning, out of Whangaroa, first time in years and I get terribly seasick, am siting here at 6am popping sea sick tabs like lollies and trying not to think about it. On the other hand Whangaroa is absolutely beautiful and the guy I'm going with will give me a hell if I puke so I refuse to give him the chance. Here's hoping for snapper for tea tonight. Tata
  5. Ahhh, thanks guys, it's just that I've recently cleaned the gutters out and seeing the amount of gunk and bird poo on the roof kind of grossed me out.
  6. Hi, once again my Google skills have let me down, I generally get everything but what I'm researching. We want to treat our water tank, does anyone know the safe amount of bleach/per liter of water. Thank you.
  7. We noticed a bit of an anomaly with the tank this morning. The hood comes with 3 tubes built into it, the tubes arn't full length, but perhaps a foot shorter so they've been staggered to make up for the lengths. There are two down one end and only 1 up the other, two tubes are white aqua-glows, one is a pink aqua-glow I guess. The problem is the pink one is the odd one out and is up one end of the tank all by it's self. We noticed that all the plants at that end have become scrawny and have lost their leaves, some of the plants have even rotted and have died, where the ones at the other end are bushy and healthy. We're going to swap them around so we have a white tube at each end in hopes this fixes things. Think it's time to add the CO2 now, and perhaps start the ferts Jen?
  8. The Amazon!!....what the.....lucky lucky lucky. What's that gonna cost you? Or should I say your parents
  9. We got 3 yesterday, fantastic zippy little fellows, we googled first and found we actually preferred the look of the common Affinis, so that's what we got. You can already see where they've been cleaning up.
  10. I know it's nothing special but we just can't remember what it is and it's doing my head in. Thanks.
  11. Starting to get black slimy looking algae growing on some of the plants, namely the broad leaves of the sword plants. And a more brownish looking one on the Hydrocotyle, which is directly under the lights, the leaves are stretching up towards it, only a few inches below the light. Decrease light period? Or perhaps add a few Ottos to do their thing? It's not getting out of control yet, but may do if given the opportunity. We've run out of Flourish, been about a week without it. surely that wouldn't be the cause?
  12. It sounds like you enjoy school a lot, good on you. i loved Mt Bruce as a kid, used to go there a lot, the eels were my favorites. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ReviewPhotos ... sland.html
