  1. I was doing a test on my aquarium and the Ph seems high. i read it as 7.5- 7.7 What should it be though? im sure people have said that its neutral!!
  2. Well yea now it should be alright because i have him in a separate tank. but before he would chase every else away from the food lol I might try that pen trick to get him to flare. Ill post some picture tomorrow, because i have a ball tonight.
  3. Ok i was having a think.. What is the next set to making my fighters spawn?       Heres my line of thinking : I have the male in the 60L, and i am going to condition him. Then i the female ready to transfer into the 60L and be put into the net cage thing. Once the male has shown interest, i let them get it on.. Then put the female in the net cage back into the main tank as well as the male. Feed the spawn on the fomented grass stuff. Question!! How long to i condition the male? How long do i leave them together in the 60L & how do i know if its not going well?? Cheers!
  4. Oh cool thanks, i wondering what he was, the guy @ the pet store said he a bit of crown tail in him?>>
  5. I would'nt be able to go though with culling them all. Ehgh
  6. Ok, So i have had the new tank going for a good 24 hours. And i have put my male in. I have also added in a huge rock decoration, just after i took the photo, because i heard that the females will need a place to hide. Question: What should the Ph of Wellingtons water be??? heres a shot of the test tube i was testing: All the other readings look fine
  7. Hehe, so he is just a fatty then? What kind of beta is he? Dt? - im new at this
  8. Omg 250 to 500 fry! i would drown
  9. Heya I looked at him this morning, and he looks like he did in the 1st photo. So im guessing its bloat?
  10. ok cool ill try it. Is this common ?
  11. Argh! did i over feed him!!?? i didnt know that was possible I was trying to get him ready to mate.. :-? Does he need something like pea's?
  12. Heya i have just noticed a weird lump on my male Beta. It looks as if he is pregnant or somthing!?!? Is this normal? I think its growing too, because i had taken some shots when i first brought him, two weeks ago. heres a picture when i brought him : this is him now : :-?
  13. I read something about putting a jar with some tank water and grass in the sun for a few days, and then harvesting the slime of the top and using that as a food.. That sounds cheaper.
  14. Cool thanks. Ill post pictures along the way. not sure when the 60L will b ready though, cas theres a new filter, but the waters old so im thinking give it a week? My brother is trying to spawn his corys, so if he manages that ill probably put the eggs in their as well. Ill get some shots of that as well. Cheers for the help.
  15. Oh ok sounds fun, i'll give that a go. :bounce: I have a couple packets of blood worms in the freezer and i have plenty of flake food. would that be enough to 'condition' them? And once the have finished breeding and i put them back into the main tank, will they go back to their normal behavior? Thanks a bunch!
  16. Oh yea, so .. Do i put them into the net floating in the main tank or relocate them to the 60L? Cheers
  17. hahah thanks lol, 3rd 17th! nice Heres my current tank my 140L today i when to hutt pets to buy a foam filter thing, but they had a shelf of 50% off... i spent $70 the rock and the tall fake plants at the back are new, and the breeding net is also new Here are my fighters: They seem to be alright together, the male doesn't really chase the females too much, but i was wondering, do you think they are too small to mate? cas i want him to make a bubble nest!!! and have some fry to put in here: I have just set it up, i used the water from my 140L to mostly fill it and then just toped it up with tap water. The filter is really noisy though i will see if i can sleep with it on like that tonight, im hoping that i will find it maybe soothing? lol
  18. Yea thats a good idea. My brother has some Bronze Corys that about 3 months ago lay eggs all over the glass, but they were all eaten cas we have no where to put them My thinking is that if they have spawned once they'll do it again. With the fighters, can you keep all the female fry together?
  19. Wow thats soo expensive! how do you cut it? could you like tape it and then use a saw?
  20. Heya, well i have just had my 17th birthday & i have been given a bit of money which means i can finally start a new project. well not really a project, but i want to do something with my old 60L. My last 'project' was my 140 blue planet tank, i have finished stocking it with tetras, a golden spot pleco and 3 fighters ( 1 male and 2 female - but the females are a bit small so i don't think they are ready for breeding) I was thinking about making it into a fry rearing tank for when the betas breed. If i did that i have read i would need to separate the fry as they get aggressive, so i would need to buy some acrylic glass? Whats your ideas and views? What should i do with the tank? Ill keep a photo blog on here so you can track my progress Thanks for all your input guys its much appreciated!
