  2. ohh ok Well i have no idea. I likes the E. Yellows What are the easiest to look after ? Also the most colorful ? I hear that some are aggressive, so what combos would work? Could you post me some of ur tanks so i know what each type look like, African Asian etc

  4. Hello fish dudes Its time for me to upgrade my Aquarium to a cooooooooooler tank. :bounce: I currently have a 60L running in my bedroom. I love it to bits, but the tank is second hand and i have a list of little things that annoy me with its design ( like the lid, pain when cleaning, light needs new bulb, costs more than the fitting Etc) I have my eyes set on an brand new 180L Tank. It comes with heater, light and filter. It a package deal from Juwel at Animates. But i am contemplating what i should do with my current fish because my parents are only letting me have one Aquarium In the 60L: -17 Neons -Kuhli loaches ( Wana keep them ) -3 platys + 10 ish babies I would like to start a cichlid tank Can you give me some suggestions about this ?? Like to know: -How best to go about starting up a Cichlid Aquarium, and what to avoid -Keeping the Kuhlis? and the other fish , Sell them back/trade them @ lps? -Cycling the new tank using the dirty water from the 60L ?? Thanks a heap !!!
  5. Yea well im in no rush to upgrade. The thing with getting an all in one set up, is that it looks tidy, and the plastic lids are great for hiding the lights and keeping the fish in. I look forward to the animates sale!! Thanks for the tip off
  6. So if i got the tank made for roughly $200. I would then need to buy a stand, How much would it cost to get one made? After that i need lighting and filtration, Lights are expensive too!!!
  7. How much would it cost to get a glazier to make me a tank?? I think i could get a stand/ Cupboard from an opp shop. Just so i can work out the costs
  8. I want to upgrade from my 60L, I have a space for a larger tank - 600 wide 1100 - its in the corner of my room, the tank length can be up to 1100 in length and up to 600 from the front of the glass to the back.. hope that makes sense .. I was thinking of getting it brand new, because i have seen some good prices for some of their tanks. Can anyone help with what to avoid and whats good and bad when upgrading??? Like which models etc.. My budget is $550 ish Thanks, Dylan.
  9. I had the same problem with my tank, but i just put rocks on top and left it for about a week, took them off and it stayed under..
  10. Today i woke up and had a look, and i cant find the sick one. My first thought was death, but i had a closer look and she or he is looking fine... Weird :-? But good!
  11. I have just noticed that one of the 20 neons in my tank is looking very bloated, its swimming downward trying to fight against a flipping action. It seems like its stomach is full of air or something and its pulling the neon up to the surface. I have also noticed that some of the other neons have similar swollen stomachs but are not behaving like this on. It kinda looks like its having a mini stroke. It like his the top of the water and swims back down. Could it be giving birth? Note, The tank is fully cycled, not over stocked and the water readings are all good. I have done a 50% water change today as a normal weekly ritual. Anyhow Please help!! I really dont want it to die!!
  12. Heya, What are the signs a platy is just about to give birth? ( apart from the huge stomach )
  13. Could i use smashed up tea cups as a bio media?
  14. The only other problem is working out how the water flows around the media holding cup thingy. Have a look at the photos of the inside. Its an odd shape, the water comes up a semi circle bit and then theres a large tube. How would i get good coverage over the media with that?
  15. Ok, Thats a good idea. But what about bio balls or somthing?
  16. I went to my lps and for the replacement filter media, it would cost me $40. And thats just a sponge! There has to be a better way.
  17. Heya, I need some help with choosing what fitler media to put into my internal filter. I have this oldish 'shark' filter that i want to use in my 60l alongside the current internal filter. The 'Shark' has no media in it, and im unsure of the model so here is a picture, Hope thats helpful ( the shape of the media holding area is a bit weird, im not sure how it works, can you work it out by the picture? ) For the media i was thinking mostly bio and some Mechanical. But what and how much ? Any ideas ? I live in Wellington by the way so local stuff would be great. And im a student too, so please nothing budget breaking
  18. Heya, i have read about filters running best when used in sync with other filters, eg UG and HOB I have an internal filter Atm for my 60L tank, but im wanting to get another filter to run with it. Does anyone have any suggestions for which type and brand of filter i should get? Thanks
  19. Ok, i was thinking HOB because i wanted something as an addition to my internal filter, i have read that filters work best when in combination.
  20. Ohh yea thats a good idea, do you have any pictures? ? :bounce:
  21. Has anyone made their own HOB filter? Or seen plans for a D.I.Y one? Links? or Pics? Thanks, :D
  22. I have a heavily planted tank, and i was wondering if i could get away with out adding O2. Plants produce it, so does having a heavily planted tank mean i dont need to add it? ? Edit: Sorry i meant to say, With out adding O2 for the fish. I wanted to know if i would still need an air pump if the tank was planted.
