  1. A. but make sure it's at least three times the size and knows a bunch of new tricks.

:sml1: Just bought a couple of fold up work benches, MDF, paint and the rest. Assembled one bench so far, lunch after I finish the second bench and then on to making my own light hood
  3. Care to take me shrimping once the tank is up and running?
  4. I think I might bite the bullet and get the tank made, I wanna do a WCCM and shrimp tank.
  5. I have few questions relating to these guys: 1. Do they need a covered tank? Will they climb out of a rimless aquarium? 2. What is the best thing to feed them on? 3. Where can I get some in Auckland? Thanks!

I found out my circular saw has the ability to adjust the angle of the bottom plate, sorted  I hope you ate it Godly
  7. I get that too, mostly with platies. I have no idea what it is either :-?

Quick question, how would I achieve this 22.5 degree angle on these two boards of 6mm MDF that need to be joined? I don't have a router handy.
  10. In slightly related news, I just took my male super delta (avatar) and put him in a partially filled 45x25cm tank with a bunch of mozzie larvae that were turning into mosquitoes. It's great watching him charge around the tank after live food and I think it's important to try to encourage as much natural behaviour as practical.
  11. This. I'd much sooner put a halfmoon in a guppy trap than my high tech planted tank.
  12. It depends which sized trap and for how long. The small 150x100x100 ones are a bit small for long term housing but it's far better than having them in an unsuitable tank with hostile tank mates. I have one in a 200x150x150 net breeder and I reckon it's all good.
  13. Do you not have a specialist camera shop nearby?

This is the first time I've gone with the "all-in-one" route simply so I could have a matching tank, hood and stand. Lights, filter, etc is all after market but it looks a LOT cleaner this way.

Dutch style: Note "style" as true dutch aquariums have to meet a strict set of rules.

Dutch?! A dutch aquarium has so much discipline and distinct groupings, mine is the complete opposite.

Yeah the foreground substrate was too shallow and the lights are mostly focused on the back half of the tank. I'm considering getting rid of the tank (only) completely and going custom :nilly:

Skipped a weekly update, this tank is due for a total overhaul after I get back from the beach (late Jan)

  20. Superior because you've owned them all before? :-?
  21. That kid may have been many things but it sounds like he was mostly ignorant. Windows 8 is NOT the next (big?) thing and iPhone 5s are for dummies
  22. 3 weeks and still looking really fresh, have you noticed any new growth?
