I barely learnt anything at school this year, just reused stuff I already knew, it's been like that for a while. I hope Uni is challenging and exciting next year!
  3. Thanks Ron! Great to hear some first hand advice from the Betta guru

That looks like my old 90x40x30, I'm guessing it's bigger? Which btw, my fighters loved to jump out of
  5. Oh no doubt, we don't throw anything out :nilly: Care to elaborate on what it is I need?
  6. Hey guys, I'm new to the brine shrimp game, so new in fact I haven't bought anything. My first question is, what do I need to buy to hatch brine shrimp? And I mean everything, eggs, hatcher, etc. My second question is, what brand of egg mix is best? Thirdly, are there any issues with feeding Betta fry brine shrimp? Thanks!

Here's what's up. I'm planning on starting up my fish shelf again, I was going to use my old galv shelf but Mum pointed out it's too flimsy to house three tanks. Such a shame, I'll have to buy or make a new one then! At the moment, I have my eye on a shelf for $80, 900 long x 450 deep x 1500 high and it looks plenty solid enough, gives me an extra 300mm in length and 150 in width so more tanks! > I'll have to think on it and research different options so I'm open to any other ideas for shelves around that size, I have a bit of building knowledge and power tools but not heaps. Yup, that's what's up with me

    I'm down to 8, only 1 I saw coming.
  9. Likely Java moss, a macro image or a photo of it in the water would help.
  10. What are?? My most handy tools are definitely towels, hoses, buckets and brushes.

Why is that too small for a fighter?

  15. If you hit the button on my post of the image, you'll see these tags at the start and end of the URL to the image. All you need to do is post the direct url (usually ends in .jpg), highlight it and hit the image button at the top of where you type. Back on topic, I hope you get the chance to breed that CT
  16. The easiest thing would be to source some cinder blocks then go into Mitre10 Mega or Bunnings and ask the guy running the saw if he could help you out. I think it's $1 per cut, just have all the dimensions and quantities with you. Then all you have to do is assemble it all when you get home.

Notice the Ambulia near surface on the right, it's stretching like mad :nilly:
  19. That's correct. 8hrs is usually the most lights can be on for without algae issues, a few get away with more. And yes, external light can contribute to algae growth. I close the blinds in the afternoon so the sunlight doesn't hit my tank.
  20. Yeah I start all my tanks on 8hrs but when I get algae issues I drop it to 6 and they usually disappear. If you don't notice any change after a week then we'll know it's not a lighting issue. It's hard to pick just 6hrs to look at the tank
  21. There's your problem. Cut them down to 6 hours and see if the algae recedes. If it does, you can put them back up to 8 once all the algae is gone. Also, do a large water change.
  22. Stick to the recommended dose of excel, it can be nasty to certain fish. The best option would be pressurised CO2. Can we have some more info on your tank? Dimensions Lighting type How long the lights are on for What fish you have Thanks
