  1. Yeah Mum made the pesto and I had a dozen of em 8)
  2. Do it, it's really cheap getting rocks from a landsape supply.
  3. What a coincidence the stoopid stuff thread is full of the same crap in the cat debate thread
  4. Thanks for that LB, I think I'll go for minnows
  5. Now I think that's a government issue, not a cat control issue
  6. I'm interested but have never attended before. Who can attend this event?
  7. Perhaps such pocket linings could be better put to use in the form of cat poison or traps in native bush? That way, it only targets offending felines, not the innocent stay at home moggies.
  8. Neither do we. Don't forget it was the first humans to arrive that wiped out the Moa. I agree that feral cats need to go, cats that kill native birds need to go or be heavily regulated but my point is that not ALL cats are an issue. As CC said, raggies have a tendency to lounge around and my cat is proof that they're not all ruthless killers. Regulation is key, the idea that all cats are the same is just wrong.
  9. May I ask why all cats in NZ should no longer live?

    The What's Up? thread.

Don't trust suction cup net breeders. Laters $60 worth of the most beautiful fish I ever owned. RIP lil' guy
  11. It's not fair, at my old house we never had a cat yet were surrounded by cats and the lawn was littered with feline faeces. At the house with the cat, no turds on the lawn. PROTIP: Get a shovel and flick the turds over the neighbours with cats fence  Dogs are killers. Fish are killers. Orca whales are killers. Badgers are killers. Hyenas are killers. Hippos are killers. Your point is? The issue isn't that cats are killers, it's that the regulations around them are too loose.
  12. Not that we're aware of, despite spotting them numerous times around the garden. Anyone who knows my cat know how useless she is :sml1:
  13. No, I don't have time for that. You obviously have no idea what my cat's like, she used to bring in all the birds (none of which were native) and since she had a run in with two cars, she never even leaves the property. When we are home, she just sits and watches the birds, if she does make a move they all fly off because she's too slow. If she was killing birds, they would be on the property and we would see evidence of it. I can safely say that my cat is not a threat to New Zealand's native bird population. Then again, I know you're just being difficult and trolling cause someone didn't give you quite enough attention when you were young.
  14. Speakeasies with cats instead of booze, cat fanatics will turn into criminals just trying to get their daily fix. Imagine a shady tavern full of old ladies petting cats in jumpers :nilly:
  15. I agree that there does need to be some tightening up of the cat control laws in this country however the whole "kill all the cats" approach is ridiculous. As with dogs, it's all in the up bringing. My cat is fed well, cared for and kept inside at night (for her own safety) and she's ever only caught a couple of birds back in the day, now she couldn't catch one if she had to  All responsibility falls on the owner, if they can't get their cats in at night and control what they catch, let fines and confiscation ensue.
  16. Uh-oh, we found the large Swiss lady :digH:
  17. Hey! Going in to work is not procrastinating! Then after work you know... fun stuff only. And maybe tomorrow I'll get called in again
  18. Got a couple of refills today after work. Issue 1. Inline diffuser not working. Bubble counter shows bubbles for half a minute then stops, pressure builds so no CO2 can get through but none comes out of the diffuser. Solution, get a new bottle or switch to a standard diffuser. Inline diffusers require a LOT of pressure to create the mist, not enough pressure (end of the bottle) and nothing will come out. Issue 2. Leaks from the CO2 rig. Leaks from various parts of the rig, cylinder to adaptor, adaptor to regulator, etc. Solution, use a LOT of thread tape and O rings  CO2 is currently pumping out at a rate of 2-3 bps (I know ya'll like that measurement  ) and the tank looks cloudy due to the mist. Waiting for the drop checker to go to yellow. Also, I need to properly route all of the cables for this and install my new surge protected board AND clean up :nilly:
  19. Why does it need to be darkened? If you need to stop algae growth, raise the light. If you're going for a blackwater biotope, get a new lighting system, add tannins to the water or put a piece of black linen or material on the tank lid.
  20. @ diabolus; I am going to crank the CO2, sadly when troubleshooting it I lost most of my gas so it ran out after just one day, I'll go get it refilled tomorrow and blast it. This tank is supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable but so far with the filter and CO2 issues, it's making me pull my hair out and I haven't even got algae yet :nilly: And to top things off, the drop checker won't stay attached to the side of the tank
  21. You forgot about Antarctica  These days most people get their gear shipped to them, even if they have a great LFS because it's cheaper. There's no reason why a great scape can't be achieved with the equipment we get here or can get shipped here.
  22. It's Xmas moss, I just tied it down with cotton thread
  23. I mean a lot as in high concentration not a lot in volume, confusing!
  24. Is the forward or toward the back of the tank?
