Lights went off at about 8.30pm. Covered them with a towel so I won't be tempted and I should be away for most of tomorrow. Hopefully they don't tear each other apart!

Ouch, my male pride has been damaged!
Kidding Lyndy, I'm not hurt but I am a guy.
Okay mods, time for gender symbols! Can you have them ready by Monday?
-
What do you think I am Lyndy?
-
He's made a few little nests
One by the flowerpot where she is hanging out,
one against the back wall
and one around where the heater cable meets the water surface.
I added heaps more bacopa but he's ignoring that and the lid.
*sigh*, more stress than I thought it would be.

He's not letting her leave the flowerpot, even for air. Should I put her back in the coke bottle overnight?
-
All hope is not lost! , yet.
He's made a tiny, teeny, itsy, bitsy, liddle bubble nest against the glass, no where near the offered spawning site.
Him and her looked like they were having a good chat in the flowerpot, but he'd just kicked her out.
Don't know whether to give up or not?

Not looking good at the moment
The temperature was at about 24C yesterday so I started turning it up. I was checking the thermometer and noticed it had water in it. It was broken so I took it out, not sure if it's leached anything into the water though. Put in a correct thermometer and turned down the temp because the broken thermometer was reading too low.
The male hasn't even tried to make anynests and ever since I released the female she's just been sitting in her flowerpot.
Should I just take them both out and try with another pair later?
Perhaps I need some IAL?
-
Just released her into the tank, hiding in flowerpot.
He's lost all intrest in the nesting site and is hanging out around where she is, still flaring, charging and swimming away.
-
Cool. I might need to add a flower pot for her to hide in.
-
i get to about half way and the page keeps jumping up
That happened to me yesterday, very frustrating.
Thank you very much for all the info, now all we need is a scientist to analayze it!
-
It all looks so good! I dont envy you having to remove some of those lovely plants.
Don't leave the Ambulia in the bucket too long though.
Maybe try some low foreground plants too?
-
I might try that.
What fighters do/did you breed?
-
They're of equal size or she's slightly smaller and her belly is very round.
She's super bored, he's really taking his time.
-
If anything, my male's too young. He keeps destroying his own nest but I've fed them some more bloodworms so hopefully that'll get him in the mood.
Thanks Phoenix and Mark.
Put some more water in as she carnt jump that high over the top,or can she?I don't want her to jump over though.
-
Sounds like a commuinty!
Sorry to hear about your fighter, one of my females has a sore that's just healing up now.
If you don't want your plants to get eaten then you could try and offer some other food to the catfish and algae eaters.
Good luck.

If he's still un-named, call him McGregory James Smith, betcha no one has a rooster with that name...
-
Oh yeah, those look neat.
They look like what I was referring to here:
I went into Plastic Box the other day and they had 50 700ml disposable food containers like the ones you get from Thai and Chinese resturants for $6 and 50lids for $6 too I think. -
What fish do you own?
Sounds like a community to me
-
I'll give him some more time, it's a tiny nest. My old dwarf Gourami built his ones 3cms+ above the water. The female seems ready and she's getting bored lols.
-
Are you into heavily planted tanks or are you just looking for another decoration?
-
I think I've used my Gravel-Vac about 3 or 4 times lol. Then I just let the gunk build up and the plants go wild.

Then they can put both! Or a question mark? :-?
That's okay, Sam is a unisex name.
