  1. What sort are they, ialways found that the flexible hose type were bad for that and so moved to the long, oblong shaped ones with the plastic bottom opn them, I then submerged these under the gravel. This caused the bubbles to sit in pockets in the gravel untill they were too big to held. I guessing it eliminated the humming and vibrations due to the unstable release pattern of the bubbles. I think with the airwalls they release the bubbles at a predetermined size and they cause the vibration much in the same way that a constant airflow can cause vibrations in a window. B
  2. Guess theres not so many rockpools up that huh. I added the second half of the water today and a few extra shrimp, and found once I added them that one is holding eggs, so if nothing else there is a bit of food in there. Released the small herrings, as they were just swimming round the top gasping for air. More pics to come, will see what I can get tonite. B
  3. The substrate is just beach gravel, from the same coast as all the toher bits and peices and i is the same as I use in my freshwater tanks, except I didn't clean this stuff. the rocks were just one that were in a rockpool, I pulled out that has seaweed attached to get a few little greeblies in it. Yes it is all just rockpool stuff, and it just has a small internal filter on it, as I am quite close to the beach and getting fresh water is no probs at all for me. B
  4. Finally we have krib babies and they are a few days old now. They are starting to swim up off the bottom and are getting brave enough to swi away from mum and dad. B

    Bristlenose Pic

just thought I would post a couple of pics of my male B/N as I don't ofeten get good shots of him, as he is hiding away somewhere. Up Close Outside his Home The peice of driftwood in the second pic was a home to a pair of kribs and he pushed them out and lifted the wood up so he could fit in there himself. B
  6. HI All, Just thought I would put up some pics of my new Coldwater marine. It's in a 2ftx1ftx1ft tank and has a small magi jet filter on it. Current inhabitants are a couple of small herrings that I was lucky enough to stumble across in a deeper rock pool and some rockhoppers with a sea slug and a couple of hermit crabs. The water is a little cloudy in the pics as everything was still settling in, will hopefully get some better pics today. Also any info on keeping a setup like this would be appreciated, experiances, tips, hints etc would all be gratefully received This is the sea slug munching on the seaweed. This is one of the little rockhoppers. B

    Angels

well, it's not the same nite but here are some pics, in the first you can see a cloud of free swimming fry, and this time round the parents are looking after them and the second pic is one of the 5 babies from my first angel spawning. B
  8. Here is the pic, I said I would get. You can see both parents although one is front on, and the eggs on the rock. B
  9. Right here is the pic that I was talking bout. IT is one of my males and the female is under the leaf in the bottom of the pic. B
  10. that was the name that seemed to come up on the net when I searched for it, so hopefully it is the right one. B
  11. Just had a look in the community tank and two of these have paired off and are protecting eggs. they are a wicked dark brown, almost black colour and are staunchly protecting there eggs to the point that all the pother fish are crammed in the other end. no pics yet, but will try and get some tonite. this is a first for me on these guys, but it all seems to be happening at once. I currently have a few age groups of guppies, and angles and kribs both being cared for by the parents B
  12. Awesomw loopy, best of luck. I agree with alan, leave them with the parents as I currently have angels and kribs looking after the young and it is real cool to watch. By the way Alan whats with the * in pleco B

    hi

HI and welcome angelfish, Plenty of info and informative peoplee, and I see you found the chatroom ok. B
  14. If you are just using the 21mm for uprights then why not just slice up a cover sheet, one of the guys at work (Placemakers) built a stand for both his 2 foot and 4 foot tanks out of coversheets and it didn't matter as he painted it any way. B
  15. I basically have a light weight gravel, that is a dark grey and it works really well for plant growth, I have found the key to success for me is for it to be a deep layer of gravel. However if you are having a pleco in the tank it may be an ongoing task to maintain the plants in the tank. I found tjis out the hard way, whether he was swimming normally or intentially doing it, the plants just wouldn't stay planted for more than a day. B
  16. looking good warren, some nice growth there and the tank is filling up well. B
  17. or a wednesday, change the day completely. B
  18. no luck for me sorry warren, not even an icon saying that there shuold be a pic there. B

  24. Hi MADDOG, Riccia is a good floating plant and so is java moss. I wouldn't recomend Riccia with a hang on the side type filter unless you fix it so it can't float under the outlet. I had this experiance and it ended up with me having little bits of riccia breaking off under the outlet and ending up all through my 3ft tank. B
