    Pictus school?

might accumulate these over time, not cheap at all, hopefully my bichirs wont go for them, when i had my ornates they would go for my old one. Maybe with my delhezis (smaller) I wont have the same issue.
  3. true true, I would do a white sand base with vertical wood for his fish, maybe with some java fern or anubias, love the fish though...drool.
  4. Very pleased it lived yeah, these cichlids do ok huh, except for angels who do not fail in killing off every other angel in the tank  Damn, bet you regretted selling that aro, the eel and the jag woulda been awesome, im keen for a jag...
  5. I think 3m would be juuuusssst fine

    Pictus school?

Just wondering who keeps these guys in a group, reckon it would look awesome with like 8 of them buzzing around. Anyone got pics?
  7. Actually my personal fav is neoprodigy's tank and fish, pure class, coolest stuff out, sorry Henward but id take his platinum barra, Gold barra, gars, platinum RTC, Paraya and tigrinus over you guys lol.
  8. yeah lol, isnt there that paraplegic guy in canada with that insanely huge tank with pretty much an mini ecosystem in a tank. Simply awesome, but what a job to maintain.
  9. So I had a sump malfunction and it leaked, and i had to drain it out silicone it and all, I had 5 goldfish and 1 festae cichlid in there too. So during the draining i took out the goldfish and had everything out pretty much before remembering to take out the cichlid. I couldnt find it! It had just disappeared, I was quite annoyed coz it was a cool fish, wasnt anywhere, not outside (where water was pumped or on the floor), anyway, I gave up after 1/2 hour and thought him dead. Drained out the water but left a MARGINAL amount in one compartment filled with scoria and stuff, took out heater and everything, things needed for tropicals. Week later had another sump issue and had to repeat the process, this time while I was rummaging through the rock I saw a little flash of colour, and there it was! This guy survived with a tiny amount of water, no heating, no food, no light, in a small space underneath a pile of rock!?? Somehow it wasnt crushed, and surprisingly enough its colour turned out even better No idea how this guy survived, but definitely my luckiest fish Anyone else with miraculous survivals?
  10. lol, what does that mean Dee? *note the question mark David* 8)
  11. lol, was that engrish dee, wheres the punctuation
  12. The pipes on the sand? They are just bits of pvc that i found in the garden, cut em up and gave the fish a hideaway, not permenent though, gonna make it natural, dont like the artificial look.
  13. lol, arnt you in like $500 debt now unnecessary spending bro, you worry too much about the feeding, especially with dats, they are quite picky. Morcs is right too, water changes work bro, henward figured out the chemical composition of the water around here and its pretty good despite being in auckland, dont need to work about ager etc, only monitor ammonia mainly, ph isnt a prob either, i almost never check mine. $200 on air bubbles!
  14. I was thinking along the same lines too, but have pieces going vertical rather than lying flat, but dont know where id source the wood, all the wood that Ive picked up around the place havent gone too well in the tanks, always leaching tannins etc. Dont suppose anyone out there has wood about 80cmish+ that has been used in tanks, sinks and is safe? Oh yeah, and in auckland. What types of anubias can tie to wood? I was thinking of using aestheticly pleasing rocks and planting anubias around the base of the wood. I'd be interested but you'd have to wait for the cash, dont have it on me right now, especially since im buying your other guys But i could prob do a bank deposit later on?
  15. Ideas for decor guys? I dont want it heavily planted, and its got to suit my bichirs and prob a festae cichlid
  16. bro, you dont want a high ph, 6.0 is fine generally, some fish dont eat for ages, on occaisions that i have gone away i havent fed them for 3 weeks and their fine. If you starve them long enough the fish WILL eat the food provided, its that or they die, otherwise you've got a retarded fish right there One of my ornates didnt eat for about 6 months at one stage. The bio load on your tank is low also so ammonia shouldnt be too much of an issue.
  17. Put the sand in, a little cloudy and ive reduced the sound produced from the pump, took some photos of present stage, still unsure on the decor for this tank, suggestions? I thought a combo of wood, stones and anubias planting. Anyways, pics
  18. yeah, if it they cost 40 and i need 3 then it becomes a big cost, id prefer more knifefish or bichirs, or whatever cool fish in the new shipment
  19. lol, big boned  big gutted more like. Surely a donation for my tank is acceptable feel free, a jurapari? maybe a del? if your feeling extra nice the RTG 8) you'd be able to see your fish at my place yeah those ptcs should look awesome, i want more of them too.
  20. haha pete  you should see them now super fat blobs scudding around the bottom of his tank
  21. I like the yellow on the fins, it looks great, not too worried about the other species, would prefer big catfish or gars etc
