  1. Yay, someone else who go the sims3 :bounce: My partner's person has the want to catch all 13 fish? and keep them in bowls but i dont think hes caught a lobster. My guy is green like the hulk and hes into fishing too. Do you like the new sims? I do, was going to keep sims 2 but dont think i will ever play it again. The loading times are just too much for me and the new one is so much faster. I had all the expansions for 2 and it took about 10 minutes to load my game so I could play, then I didn't go anywhere cause it takes so long to load.
  2. Name: Kathy Sex: Female Age: 27 I spose I may as well say married, I'm not but dont think he'll ever propose its been 11 years and 2 kids already!
  3. I went and looked at their picture again and yes i can just make them out tucked next to the cheek, your right though not a very good photo for trying to tell. I went and looked at the links you gave me and that confirmed it. I think its gorgeous but be hard to convince my partner at that price (could be accomplished but would take alot of talking unless I just did it but he would know when I randomly went to Auckland)! Also I like to try and get a friend for lonely fish so I would have to get another one one day. I will dream about it for now I think! Is there any chance you will ever sell any of your offspring? I understand if not, I would find it hard to part with these! Thanks NC
  4. Hi Mr Pleco, I love these fish they are awesome. Congratulations on the babies! How do you tell if they are girls or boys when adults? I really like the one on tm and it would take me some saving up to get it. They have in their ad that its a male but I read a article on how to breed them and that said the males have very long odontodes on the cheek/gills. In the photo I can't see any of these if I'm looking for the right thing (tiny bristles on the cheeks). Would like an expert opinion please. To me it looks quite plump like a female? But I don't know I just thought males were normally more slender. Thanks NC
  5. We had a salt water pool when I was a teen, just like alan said. I remember seeing the thing in the tube that produced the electric current. It was awesome I just added one or two huge bags of salt from the farm suppliers at the begginning of every swimming year and that was it. Just routine maintenance after that, it was hassle free a vacuum every now and then. I also like the look of the natural pool but yea it does look alot like a pond and I don't think I'd be able to resist filling it with fish!
  6. I tried my vet a couple of weeks ago. The vet nurse rung Brooklands and got told there was no cure and they would put it down. They also rung our LFS which is funny because there has been times when I have had more fish than them but they also said no cure. So no one would help me. My oscar has it badly up to the not eating stage now. I even explained it to the vet nurse. They have just decided to ignore me after they rung the specialists, I don't even know whether they ever asked the vet. So am just waiting for her to pass on now sadly.
  7. Thats so sad, your pond looks awesome. I would go with stolen I think because thats alot of fish, of course a pair of birds could be responsible. But surely the fish would have cottoned onto the birds and hid. The fish look very friendly what about if someone came over with a little food and a smaller sized whitebait net and just scooped. Although your right surely it would have disturbed the plants. I don't know very weird. Can your pond be seen from the road? If my memory is right its in your backyard fenced in.
  8. We used to catch them in a net, come home and throw them in the tank for our arowana. He loved chasing them. They last about 10 minutes or so then they pretty much die. But he would eat quite a few. Part of the reason we did this was his last owner feed him frozen pilchards (bait) so we figured it was much the same.
  9. Keep it it's awesome stuff and something you will probably never get or see anywhere else. I don't think you are allowed it though.
  10. Nah, thats not him. Sweet as he could be hiding anywhere, that place is huge! Thanks anyway
  11. Did they have a red spider/antlered crab at Kelly Tarlton's? My partner gave them one a couple of years ago now and we never heard what happened to it. Thanks NC
  12. I have seen these on trade me and was wondering if one would be suitable for my daughters little tank. Its only about 15litres and is cold water with some plants. How big does their tank have to be? Would only want the one and if the need arrose I have another tank about 30litres or more so could rehome. Thanks NC
  13. I seem to have lots of ping, is that how long a signal takes to come back?
  14. We went fishing in the drains next to the road up here about a week ago and got lots of shrimp. More shrimp than anything else and they weren't that hard to get. I take it these would be the freshwater ones? Are they the same ones on tm that breed in brackish water or strictly freshwater ones? I know my mother in law tried to breed them and had no luck. If they needed brackish though that would explain abit. Thanks
  15. I had both rats and mice. Both were great pets but yes the mouse tends to poo anywhere, where a rat likes to have a poo spot in their enclosure. And will hold it when on you so it can go in its comfort zone. I would go for a girl one of which ever you decide they just smell better. I used to get the packets of wood chips for them from the petstore smells less than if you use shredded paper, but mice like paper to build a nest which can be fun to watch. Also if you buy more than one mouse theres a chance if they are young they could have been incorrectly sexed so may end up with unplanned babies. Enjoy it whatever you get!
  16. Went to see my friend today and finally took the photos I promised. They are not the best pictures because the glare was terrible. He told next time morning would be best for pics as they all come out to bask in the sun but anyway here they are: Here is a shot of their cage Baby one Adults Hope everyone enjoys them. Any questions just ask and I can pass them on. He tells me that they normally have twins but I couldn't find the other baby just one, it was born in March apparently.
  17. Hi all, After seeing Sandysme photos I had to add my old pic because he looks alot similiar and made me miss him. His name was Boof he ws a big lazy oaf. We had to have him put down last year he was about 10, he got a twisted stomach & swollen prostate. We couldn't afford the vet bills especially when they said there was a high chance we could be back every fortnight for the rest of his life. He was the biggest sissy you ever met our toddler used to drag him out of his kennel by his chain (bad runaway). This pic was taken when he was young. Here's our new puppy, we got him a couple of weeks ago. He is a mini foxy x jack russell like our other little dog. His name is Zuko or Prince Zuko as our 3yr old calls him. He's named after a character on the cartoon Avatar that my partner loves. The second pic is them together on the couch he is nearly as big as her already.

    BN caves

Those pics are awesome, I want to see that in my tank. I had a pot half like that in mine but I think my boy was too big for it. It's funny the one and only time I had baby bristlenose was years ago my female was only about 5 or so cm and she never grew. At the time I thought that was normal size for adults. My boy dug his own cave under a piece of wood. I did nothing! Now that I have been trying I'm useless! Mine won't even eat their courgette.

    BN caves

How are the eggs going? I have recently got a male and female BN but I have no good enough caves for him and he just hides behond my heater. I'm a bit dissapointed Might try the pipe idea or I was going to buy a bamboo cave.
  20. One of my fishie friends is an old guy who keeps geckos (pretty sure they are the native northland ones). I'm pretty sure he just has a wooden frame around the outside and mesh on the back and glass on the front. He just uses mesh from the Mitre 10 which was ten dollars a metre last time i got some for my rat house. Anyway next time I go out that way I will take photos of them and their house. If anyone has a licence to keep them sometimes he ends up with too many after breeding season and I could always ask if theres any looking for a new home.
  21. A friend is an excellent idea maybe a school of neons or another oscar!
  22. i think its funny and its in the off topic fishroom so obviously not serious otherwise it be in cichlids or freshwater. Also Silvia-15 takes good care of his fish so I doubt he woud really be brainless enough to do this. But poor oscar! I wonder how many new fishkeepers have this same scenario at home and don't even realise.
  23. How many days do they take to turn to wrigglers? I threw them out this morning as they didn't look right and quite a few were fungusy. Also because I couldn't see any sign of any of them having developed at all and I was sure I would be able to see something in their even just a black spot.
  24. Eggs are dead, will have to wait til next time now.
  25. Thanks for replying. Lucky I got some brine shrimp eggs handy. They are still that colour but are not see through, are they meant to be? They gave up on their "nest" this afternoon and are now just swimming around. The white oscar goes back and looks but the silver dollars have eaten what eggs they could. Lucky I stole some this morning! I was going to go along the same lines as when I bred angels a few years ago. I figure being a cichlid also it can't be much different. Thanks again for replying NC
