  1. Would of if we had time, we went straight from Welly to taupo due to leaving late on the sunday. Will try to stop in and say hi next time we pass though If Mark wasn't busy it would of been the same for us lol
  2. Well Amy and I got back from our trip a week ago and had a great time. Stopped at most of the fish shops we wanted to check out, and had a good look at both Kelly Tarlton's in Auckland and Livingart's park in Tauranga. Must thank you Livingart again for helping with the car (couldn't get it to start so livingart gave us a tow to help crash start it). If you haven't had a chance to go and see Livingart's park, your missing out on a great stop. I'll load up some photo's we took later when I have some time
  3. Cool, will give you a pm if we head out that way She will tell me off if I didn't stop at any  she loves this hobby as much as I do
  4. Thats nice... You could of just said what area in auckland its in and I would of added it to 'the places to stop list'. I'll look it up on the net
  5. Thanks Livingart, I will show my partner this when she gets home We should be heading that way at some stage so I will pm you if we do
  6. My partner and I have decided to go for a trip around the north island after the wedding. Will be heading to Auckland to check out a few things. Any one got any great Lfs or pet shops in the north island they would recommend we stop at? I know of the one in rotarua and will be stoping in there on the way up (and the way back if they have anything i want ) Or any other great places?

    Tank to heavy?

That is what i've been thinking would be the safest bet
  8. My partner and I are going to get a new tank built soon but I'm wondering if we move to a place that has a wood floor and not a slab will it go though the floor. Tank size will be 2000 x 600 x 700mm. so about 820kg's not including the stand. IMO it would not last long but I could be wrong?
  9. well after breeding kribs for the first time a month or so a go, my other pair of kribs breed (in the same com tank). I really can't wait now to try breeding other fish
  10. Awesome pup there bulldogod, my cuz has one about a year - year and a half old, really great / fun dogs
  11. thanks for that guys, other half rang the vet this morning
  12. new biskets, but same soft foods. other half cleaned the mess and she has a blocked noes so couldn't tell. 13 - 14years and no, we don't give the cat milk
  13. sloppy and yellow ish, cat is acting how it normally acts
  14. After picking up the other half and arriving home, we found the cat had gone number 2's in the bathroom, problem is, at the end of it there was a bit blood, about the size of a 50c coin with a few drips after it.... Any one have a idea what could be the matter???
  15. Thanks for that, I will look into that when getting the tank built. Still deciding the sizes at the moment though- I have to keep in mind i'm still renting... but the place does have the right floor for a tank like that
  16. Thanks for all the input. I've decided just to save up and go trop once I've upgraded my 4 foot freshwater tank. Then I'll use the 4 foot for the trop saltwater setup. I thought with how much trouble it is to sort a chiller out and a few other bit my other half and I talked about, trop sounds like a better way for us to go, and I'll have another go at a NZ saltwater later in life
  17. of coarse I don't think of the easy way of doing it  those look cool, but I can see a few fish that I keep with my oscars going missing very quick
  18. only prob with that is I won't be able to get it in the flat, best width I can go is 750ish
  19. hmm... I know a 8 foot would be better, the only prob is where I am living doesn't quite have the space. Oh well I'll just get a school of silver dollars in stead
  20. My other half and I have decided to make upgrading our 4 foot tank our next must, so we are looking at getting a tank made 200cm x 60cm x 70cm (L x D x H) We have a couple of oscars and a few silver sharks all ready but would love to add a arowana if we upgraded. What are you thoughts about this?
  21. well if even 316L will rust that quick i will just kick this idea for now... don't have the money to buy a good chiller... Might just setup a 200L trop salty instead
  22. Thanks for all the good.... and not so good ideas
  23. I will have a thermostat controller on the pump taking water from the chiler, set to turn on and off at the right set temps. I do have a skimmer for a 200L tank but don't have a sump for it yet... I might look into that
  24. I have stainless steal piping (316L) for the cooling rack and a bunch of other bits to make it, will post in DIY when I make it. As for sump / filtering - the chiller and filter I will be making for it will add a good 20 or so liters
  25. Ok, my 22L nz saltwater didn't last to long, I decided it was unfair on the fish and anemones in a small tank without a chiller and other bits so I put em back from where I got them not long after my last post on the 22L tank. I finally have what I need to make the chiller (some parts took forever to get) and have a 85L tank I can use now. My questions are: How many Liters per anemones is best? any fish to stay away from? 6x the water volume per hour enough for filtration and water movement (plus two small power heads) I am aiming to have everything setup and correct from the start on this one All help is much appreciated
