  1. No ideas on what people have kept with there Fire eel in the past?
  2. So trying to work out what I want to do, and what to put where. I thought I would ask for other people's thoughts What I have that I would like to put in the same tank if possible is: 1x fire eel at 10cm 4x port hoplo cats 12x tiger plec's all about 5cm 2x green phantom plec's about 5cm What could I keep with them? more to the point, what can I keep that won't eat or be eaten by the fire eel that would be an awesome fish? The tank will be a bog wood setup and possibly heavily planted before anything is put in there. The 3 tanks to chose from is- 2000 x 650 x 700mm (850L) with 100 liter sump, but if used for freshwater with have a 200L sump used instead 1200 x 700 x 700mm (500L) with 200 liter sump 1200 x 500 x 520mm (266L) with 1 or 2 jebo 819 canister filters I can't make up my mind which tank to use for what, but one is going to be planted with the eel, one is going to be a saltwater, and the last one is going from study to the fishroom once I get round to building it I was thinking of maybe a Borneo tiger or 2 for the eel tank but don't know. Any ideas would be much appreciated. (edited bad grammar at start lol)

    A sad day

The only other 2 fish in the tank were both catfish. But we know it was the Uaru's as we caught them in the act.... I'm still trying to work out what I'm going to do with my 850L tank now...

    A sad day

Uaru's about 8 - 10 cm, Aro about 50cm and the tank was plenty big enough for just them without issues.

    A sad day

It turns out that Urau's can go from being a lovely, nice, we get on with every one in the tank sort of fish to, we can do enough damage to kill a Black Aro in the time it takes you to put the washing out. &c:ry Has anyone had this happen to them before? As soon as we noticed what was happening the urau's got chucked into another tank so we could isolate the aro to help him the best we could, but by the next morning (this morning) he was gone. I'm tempted just to go back to a tetra tank after this.... if I can be bothered at all. Some fish are fish, some are family if you get what I mean.
  6. Long time since I've had time for any major and long term projects as we have moved a few times over the last few years, but now since we have our own place, time to build the fishroom. I have a foot print of about 4100 x 2500mm. I'll put updates here as I go, but this project will take awhile as I have a few other things on the go as well. (just finishing the first part of re-enforcing the floor in the house for a few big tanks we have). Back to the main point: I have in mind everything I want for the room, setup etc. But want to ask all those who have or had fishrooms what the wish they did during the build, or later on thought this could have been done this way for this reason. Just trying to get it right first time as this will be built inside of the garage and will be hard to change or fix once tanks are in. Ideas I'm running with at the mo is: solar heating, Drain system for water changes, water tap, auto fan for when it gets to hot with backup system, air off a single compressor pump with back up, and few little ideas that if they work - I'll share them Look forward to all the advise given
  7. No fire place here sadly, otherwise I would of brought home a trailer load

    rodi units

looking at buying a RODI unit for a saltwater tank I've been slowly getting bits for as I can afford them. Is there any kind/type I should be looking for? any thing I should be looking for, or they all the same apart from the amount of water per day? thanks
  14. Just used my nick name as I couldn't be bothered trying to explain what my gamer tag meant, mind you I use a different tag now that I don't play comp games, and now just on 360 lol
  15. All 3 are Jebo 819's. I'm borrowing a filter off a mate and trying to sort something else out for the other tank. Didn't end up doing the sump as don't have the money for the heater's and return pump / plumbing for that kind of setup at the mo. Will need to look at getting that stuff later
  16. Tank crawl & meeting went really well today :happy1:
  17. Well looking at moving at the end of the month if the bank gives us the money to buy a house.... So I decided I needed to get the canister filters for the spare tanks cycling to use as holding tanks for the move, any way after hours of cleaning media and setting all 3 canisters up - find out 2 don't work, one leaks (which I went out and brought new seals for 2 of them a month ago :an!gry ) So tomorrow I'm building a sump for my biggest holding tank... yay  At least this gave me a reason to find something else to do, like clean the main tanks sump :nilly:

  19. Got 14, better than I thought I would get. I'm going to have to show this to a mate of mine as he is colour blind - just can't remember what colours he mucks up
  20. From all the Kribs we have kept, we have never had any problems, including with guppy's - unless they have paired up or a female has found a spot to call hers. Then the just chase away anything that comes near there spot. Haven't ever seen ours nip or kill anything though, not to say some one else might not ever had a blood thirsty krib, but we haven't had issues. Hope this helps
