  1. alanmin sure does his boxes with a lot of effort - everytime we've received plants it would take the girlfriend ages to rip the tape off lol plants arrive perfectly
  2. how do you get Metro? do you just go to the vets and tell them about the fish? - would they just give it to you? Or would i have to physically take my Discus there?
  3. mark if you're looking for CT females Cam had some nice ones - I ended up buying 5 from him
  4. haha I had my skunk loach living under my undergravel filter for a bit - it somehow managed to dig a hole through the gravel!
  5. I heard dog worming pills work - I currently have two white blue Discus off food, staying next to each other and eating very little if any at all (while the other 7 scoff their faces in excess whiteworm and bloodworms and granules)...they're not showing aggression to other Discus so they can't be a breeding pair ready to breed (or can they?)
  6. Yeah I read that they breed them in giant concrete tanks...then the rest was written in Thai which stopped me from understanding a wee bit lol. I'm more curious as to what their natural environment's like and how fragile their eggs are..I have almost a quarter of my 6foot tank grown off Christmas Moss (should make good shelter?) Has anybody tried? Are all Chain loaches in the petshops imported?
  7. yup they sure are yours, babysittn 5 fighters for Dave's lil sis and my own 3 fighters..they are sure getting quite plump from the worms though, the crowntail is really coming through nicely in both the males and females, you've done well with them! Currently looking for a nano tank (30L-ish?) to set up as a betta display with my 3 fighters. They'd rather munch on Discus granules than flake food
  8. has anybody bred Chain loaches successfully in their aquariums? Just brought 10 of these lil fellas today from hutt pets - kinda sure there's at least one female (being fatter in the midsection), got a group of 4 in my 2foot tank and a group of 6 in my 6foot tank..wouldn't mind my own sustainable snail control that looks good
  9. how do you get black beard algae in the first place? through water of plants brought from petshops? I have some suspicious looking algae growing on my Anubias but my bristlenoses and snails seem to be keeping the length and density down
  10. hey thanks for that - good to know it's not a disease ( hope i didn't just jinx myself). I'm doing water changes (about 8buckets of water) every 3days, currently feeding them whiteworms, bloodworms and New Life Spectrum Discus granules - not too sure what else I can feed them to encourage colouring. waiting on the cardinals and glowlights to come in before my tank is complete - am always on the look out for more varieties of Discus though.
  11. tried both Wardley and Nutrifin - they only spit it out...think I've spoilt them rotton with whiteworms and bloodworms that they won't go back to flake...should I not feed them until they will eat flake again?
  12. hey - excuse my ignorance but what are bbs? I feed mine whiteworms and they go nuts over them..mine don't really like flakes trying to get them to eat it atm
  13. that's the thing everytime one of them go dark coloured (no stress bars visible, completely dark) they kinda go emo - doesn't go near the others but at the same time it doesn't chase the others either? I have bigger Discus in there - just seems to be the small ones, and never all together just one at a time...quite bizzare
  14. Hey - anyone in the know about Discus? I have some juvenile Discus at 5cm region - and every so often they individually undergo periods of sustaining a dark colour then going back to their normal colour, wanting to know if this is normal? Also - how long would it take Discus to fully colour up? A bit of a novie to Discus keeping but so far no fatalities in my 6foot tank in the last 3months. Thanks, Amy.
  15. Hey - just a query for those in the know for Discus, I have currently 5 small Discus in the 5cm region, they each individually undergo a couple of days being dark in colour before their normal colour is resumed - IS THIS NORMAL? Also, when could I expect my Discus to full colour? Just a beginner but all's going well so far - had them for almost 3months now and haven't had a single fatality Any advice would be awesome!
  16. I had one of my heavily gravid females in quaratine with methyl blue and she dropped - all 16 frys with yolk sacks survived, she didn't eat them either
  17. I'd be keen for a few of your rams if it all goes well!
  18. haha plenty of blonde/bright yellow fry already. already have set up a swap with cesars. Cheers, thank you anyway!
  19. wOw yOu gOt yOurs tO dO that?? - mine just swam around all day. when I kept goldfish (before I switched to tropicals) I only ever went to goldfish breeders, you pay a bit more because they were bred well - petshops will ever only have nymphs (basically poorly bred ones - either fins, or body shape or whatever that doesn't conform with the actual standards). my Black Moor was 15 years old before it died of old age - it even had cateracts (he was also imported hence I paid a lot for him) how many are you looking at housing? because Goldfish do make the water dirty more than tropicals - you'll need to maintain it well. hope this helps
  20. I'm wanting to add some fresh bloodlines into my collection of various snakeskin and leopard print guppies (no idea what crosses produced these - just happened freely in my tank lol)...getting a bit inbred at the moment lol. If anyone have any fry Im more than willing to either do a fry swap or purchase them off you. Cheers.
  21. ..............could someone show me a pic of what Chain loaches look like so I'll know wat I'm looking for?
  22. Dam lol worth a try..reali need something placid that won't bully my GBAs or Discus - I always seem to get psychotic fish from the petshops plus last time I suspect the Mollies i bought from the local petshop gav my tank a small bacterial infection had to quarantine a lot a fish! Hence i prefer breeders..
  23. hey guys, Iv been looking at getting bearded dragons for a while now, but have not had much luck. Im after sandfire red or yellow Dragons, but more so sandfire red.
