  1. hey my results ALWAYS worked. even if it meant setting fire to the benchtop and blowing up the orange azo-dye! lol swappage of answers is the only way to get through uni - working smart as i call it lol.. hahahahaa added you on bebo!
  2. it went by really fast! haha A+ in chem, sucked at the other classes! and turns out im allergic to hay and some cats so that's that career out the window! lol... sad huh? I just thought of you the other day - i was chucking my old chem book out and i saw this page with violent bright pink, really neat handwriting all over it and i was like.... hmm.... i wonder how Amy is! lol hahaha what a random place to find you 2! (Im almost finished with a degree in Finance and International Business now )
  3. haha omg! i was in the same class as her - we had heaps of labs and stuff together!
  4. oh wow! that's so cool - ive never seen lille baby cories before! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: brine shrimp is an awesome food for baby fish.... not sure about these guys though - if they act like normal cories, won't you need a food that doesn't swim around the place?
  5. did amy do prevet in 2006 in palmerston north?
  6. we had the same ones come in! the red dragon was a stunner!
  7. lol! we got a couple of half moons in p-north as well! they lasted the best part of a day and were gone! lol PS - that's a real nice specimen too!
  8. yep! they are quite slow growing - but love bloodworms, heart and spirulina flakes. i can post pics of mine if you want to see what you'rs will look like when bigger? (or more mature).... oh and where did you get yours from?
  9. thought so! that one hasn't got all his colours yet! they look real nice once the blue comes through. I have 2 males and a female in my tank - also bought them when i shouldn't have! lol the males love showing off for the female - but love chasing each other around the tank =) surprisingly territorial for such a wee lille fish - won't do any damage to each other though. ><>
  10. jaime's right.. the capsule is water soluble - so don't worry about the fish (handsome? lol) having eaten it. :bounce: PS - He must be a hog to have eaten that. I have to scare my fighter away from the food cause he eats too much and looks like he will burst.
  11. they are more noisy that your "everyday" airpump. having said that - the pump is 35W and a normal airpump is normally about 5W. so 7 times more power-ish. try going into a pet shop and seeing if they will let you have a look at the pumps they use (usually pumps like this one). then you can judge for yourself how noisy they are. hope this helps.
  12. bird!!!!!!!! ha ha lol =) :bounce:
  13. just use a high salt solution. dip the plants in or keep them in it for a few mins, and presto. the snails curl up in their shells and you can get rid of a majority of them. KMno4 is another good way too. copper sulfate solution or crystals (bright blue) can be disolved in water and that'll kill them. it is very poisonous though - so be careful. but i doubt you can just get it over the counter.
  14. if you get him young make sure to feed em "rearing food" then move him onto fresh apples, grapes and wet mix. give him dry mix when he is a bit older.
  15. not cutey cutey? really? that's not good - he needs to be handled a lot mor, so try getting him as young as you can, and is safe for him. its a lotta work tho! rusty wasn't born perfect, lol hahahaha :bounce:
  16. tsk tsk tsk... look at you with your own lille zoo! remember the lorikeets must meet when my exams are over! PS- the dageti is doing well..........i think........ i haven't seen him since last night come to think of it.........
  17. @ alanmin lol that solves the problem aye! haha  the whole water temp thing has gone so far off topic!
  18. for more info try looking up Newtons laws of thermodynamics, and enthalpy and entropy changes. hope this helps Sorry about being so technical. Don't blame it on me. It's all Newton's and Einstein's fault
  19. i understand the logic behind that reasoning. In reality however it does not work that way! it is quite hard for me to explain how it really works as well. there is a formula to explain what is "happening" when you mix water from two sources at 2 diferent temperatures. delta H = m.c(t-t1) the most important thing to remember here is that cold water does NOT become hot. EVER. to do that you need a lot of energy. Tht's why you boil water on the stove or in the kettle. Energy always flows from HOT to COLD. and although it would seem perfectly logical to assume that when combined- the two temperatures result in an intermediate (average) temp - it doesn't work that way because of the sort of reaction that is taking place. the reaction is completely dependent on things like the surface area of the hot object (in this case water) \ and mainly the spec. heat capacity of water.
  20. :bounce: agreed! 100% it took me ages getting my head around how temperatures work, darn all those chemistry and physics classes. I must have sounded like a total nerd with my blurb above
  21. LOL!!! I love the way mugabi has tried to "stop" inflation by putting an expiry dates on the notes, haha.. this literally made my day!
  22. does any one out there have a rudimentary Calorimeter? I don't have access to the physics labs at Massey any more, but it is easy enough to know how much the water temp will change by if you know the volume of warm water (although it needs to be in grams because the unit of measurement is mass), the vol of cold water being added, and the temperatures of the warm and cold water. the specific heat capacity of water © is 4.18 J/g^(–1) K^(–1)
