    3 foot tank

They spread well. spread why did you make the plant so short?
  4. Use an alcohol sanitiser, and keep one near its enclosure, and sanitise your hands after contact with the reptile.
  5. I want a female eclectus. In fact once things have settled down for me, I will get one but its a bit of a long term relationship - 70 years! The possum just came in with someone, it was young and a little sick cause its mother was shot. tame possum better than a wild one I say. Rusty hadn't seen one before, so he came to investigate

I have no black background, so i found an old silk black shirt that im going to wrap around some poly and use that for photo-ops!

    3 foot tank

can you try a shiny black background? PS= i like how clear the water is. good ol carbon
  8. yep it covers desexing and vaccinations. sometimes they are also de-wormed and de-flead so its a great deal and you get to rescue one!
  9. corner of albert street and your street or church I think - there is a recycle centre there. I get boxes for free from them very year when i move. they are happy to give them away.
  10. im not going to breed them, just wanted something pretty floating around the tank the cambodian is not doing too well, so i got her home today. apparently she went curvy and bent for a couple of days I thought he could have been a baby male cause it was flaring at the male in the guppy breeder. but it has an egg spot and long fins, so its all confusing
  11. Thanks guys. He made a lot more friends today as well. I decided Rusty Ruu should be his proper name.
  12. female cambodian - any guesses to tail type? - came in as a DT but I don't think she is. what colour and type is she? this is the DT much prettier in real life.
  13. She has an egg spot, but her behaviour is very male-like. ill post a pic once i put her in the new tank. Delta tail.
  14. nope! i found nothing. but i have green cories in there....
  15. you need to check to see if it does actually rise. it will not have to rise - as the water contains buffers... buffers resist pH change, and so if you add water of a different pH - your pH should stay stable. also remember fish never have been able to detect pH and will never be able to do so, its the concentration of ions that matter - pH is just a way that we can read and understand it. google pH and buffers.
  16. those are best used in conjunction with another tube, like 10000K. its a really good tube though
  17. he is mental! LOL but i had to teach him weird thing so i could keep him mentally stimulated... he still manages to drive me mad sometimes. (even more so). you must! he tried getting it on with a ragdoll cat today - poor thing was petrified!
  18. since nzcookie has asked about ph up and down, ill explain why i dont like it. say your tank water pH is 5.5. you are not happy with this and so use pH up (or proper) to increase the pH to 7.0. that's fine, but the next time you do a WC, your pH will plummet cause there is no natural buffering in the water. then after you do your WC - you add some more pH up to stabilise the pH. so in the mean while, your pH has gone up - down - up, and its done it really fast. the only right way to use those products in my opinion is to pre treat a large amount of water, and then when you remove water from the tank, add the pretreated water to the tank so there is no change in the pH. its a great product, don't get me wrong - but 99% of users don't use it correctly - mainly because they either cannot grasp the concept of pH stability and KH and some are not told about how to correctly use it. the instructions on the packet from my understanding assume that the water has a natural buffer once the product has been added. Use the pondcare wide range pH test kits. they range from pH 5.0 - 9.0 peat does tint the water and make it yellow. some like that (ghastly) colour. i always have a load of carbon in my filters to take it out.
  19. well. first he says puff!!! then he puffs him self up... pings his eyes and says " eeeeeee.... grrrrrr" then he says hello and barks like a dog swinging his head from side to side. sometimes he talks to dark corners and makes android noises too
  20. you would use peat, driftwood, leaves etc.
  21. he is only 8-9 months old, and is sooo incredibly tame its not a joke! you can do absolutely any thing to him and he just sits there happily! so his feathers get ruffled cause of all the handling, but his adult feathers are coming in now I want a female eclectus!
  22. as far as I know, it refers to the white body and red fin colouration.
  23. Well! today Rusty Ruu made a new friend. His name is Kiwi, and he is an eclectus parrot (boy). Initially we thought they may fight but after rusty made his happy sounds, and said hello (literally) they got on really well and even groomed each other! It was so awesome to see! Just though I'd share this for us bird lovers / appreciators!
  24. well for starters you should stop using pH 7.0 use calcium blocks, coral and cuttlefish shell to raise your KH and that will stabilise your pH. once it reaches a stable level, leave it be. any where between 6 and 8 is ok
