  1. Oh it might indeed be killed once it reaches here. but the potential organisms it carries won't die. and i think that's what they are trying to stop at the border. Now I for one want to see more birds and reps being imported here. But within the grounds of being rational and feasible you, I and everyone with a grasp of biosecurity and what it means to NZ know changes to the current system are unlikely. The outcome of this thread is a knee jerk reaction. It hasn't really achieved any thing at all has it?
  2. They should send both types of people to jail.
  3. brine shrimp are most nutritious within 24 hours of them having hatched. adult BS are very high in protein by dry weight, as you can imagine, but protein is not everything. I use colourbits and a few other foods for my discus and other fish.
  4. They are nutritionally inept.
  5. you will also need to move on to a marine tank as they grow up and need to be in marine water. you need a hydrometer, which measures the specific gravity of water. pure water has a SG of 1, add salt and impurities, and that increases.
  6. haha that was not my doing! Welcome, and glad you could join. The Central fishkeepers information I was telling you about is viewable in the clubs section. Infamous is quite a matter of relativeness really....
  7. you only feed blood worms occasionally. get it eating colourbits as the staple diet.
  8. 2009 GDP was about 114.9 Billion. (1.149e11), so it would never ever make 0.01%. That's about 11.5million. I should perhaps say it would make 0.007% which is about $8,043,000 expressed in total gross figures, as an estimate. (edited some of the numbers cause the zeros were killing me) gosh im really messing it up today aren't I. Those figures are expressed in USD. The then prevailing exchange rate was about NZD/USD 0.61xx, so you could further diminish the final figures and decrease the % figure.
  9. As a percentage of GDP it would struggle to make 0.01% Not so massive.
  10. shallow water corals and anemones generally need more light than your average freshwater plant.
  11. put a mirror in front of the tank and see what happens?
  12. Used for marine corals as a 'compromise' instead of having multiple 18000K / 20000K and 10000K tubes if i dare say so. but yeah, mostly used on marine. I think you should try it for plants. I have seen some very good results with a 14000K halide on a planted tank / plants.
  13. Nothing at all. I have had several gay fighters. you just love them like any other fish
  14. where did you get birdfish from? its bigfish  BIG
  15. babies are growing! they are still with the mother. they are probably 3mm long now.
  16. by weird, i mean it is not what is normally used to grow plants. doesn't mean it can't be done though.
  17. Wohr. Helping women park since 2000
  18. if you want a planted tank, stay clear of an undergravel filter.
  19. No. Importing plants is even more expensive and tougher than importing fish. search these forums and you will find all your answers
  20. They should be ok. 14000K on its own is a weird colour for growing plants, but it can be done. I know pure 14000K halides can be used to grow plants.
  21. Looks like a female to me too.
