  1. I have mine in separate containers from Plastic box and just have lots of containers in one big tank. This way I only need one heater but i do water changes in their containers ever 2-3 days.
  2. I did a water change in his tank 2 days ago and now the water is a cloudy green again. Could it be getting too much sun? It doesn't get much but maybe just that little bit is enough to make the water cloudy. I have also added a plec to try and clean things up a bit. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks
  3. Yes we are planning to have the fish transitioned to a full marine tank over the nexy year or so. I have just done a small water change and taken the plant (cabomba) out and he seems much happier. have also removed the backing paper off the sides cause he was seeing his reflection and looked frustrated......He's come out from hiding now and is much happier. Thanks for the advice.
  4. testing is my next thing but havent got amonia test kit....I thought I might to another small water change and take the plants out of it see if that helps
  5. The tank is 60litres.....has an aqua one 103F filter and a bubble wall and have gravel as the substrate.....
  6. Hi all, My daughters fish has just moved into a bigger tank. We let it cycle for over a month and all was well until fish and plants and decorations were added. It went cloudy very quickly so we did a water change and within 24 hours cloudy again....Any ideas?
  7. Ok....my daughter is getting one of these and according to the internet it will need a hydrometer for the brackish water. There is both a hydrometer and hygrometer on trademe....Which do we need and what is the difference? Thanks

  10. oops thanks for that forgot there was both bristlenoses and plecs. Thanks.
  11. Hi all Can I put a plecostemos with these and do I need a heater on a low setting. Have had many different pieces of advice but just wondering what you all think? TIA
  12. I'm doing 50% water changes every day as they seem to get green in 24 hours. I'm feeding them brine shrimp mainly now but how often should I be feeding? Also have added a small plecostomos. Will he eat the babies?
  13. Well these guys surprised me this time. i was away all day every day last week so they must have mated sometime then. On Saturday night I go to switch the light off in the tank only to find lots of little black tails etc. Mum and dad got moved out of tank pretty quickly but both are ok and have recovered well. The babies are growing fast. I am feeding them liquifry 3 times a day and boiled egg yolk (2drops) in the morning. I have also been doing water changes every 2 days. Does this all sound ok? Am I doing everything i can and should I be doing anything else? TIA :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

    canisters?

I also tossed up this decision about a year and a half ago. In about 2 months managed to find 2 Eheim 2213 filters on trademe for $100 each. Definately worth it and also have a place I can get parts from on there.
