  1. Figured I should take some pics of the tank since its been a while since my last update. Sterbai and Lancelota whiptail - Apisto steel blue females - Sterbais going for the food - Enter the hungry bully -
  2. Maybe I can train it not to dig up my plants
  3. Thanks for the wishes everyone! Just did a little shopping this morning, and just had the spiciest Thai dinner ever. Still fuming and ears are bright red, nose watering, lips and guts burning! Happy Birthday diver21! Us Virgos are a special bunch haha
  4. Shucks... Thanks! i just shopped a little and now im going to out for a fancy dinner. Joys of turning 23
  5. No, I personally don't think it would look good. Looks better in larger tanks.
  6. It was kind of like he had been attacked, but that can't have been. He even wiggled at me when i passed the tank and decided to do the WC before I fed them. Dunno what happened there eh.. Just got back home and I still can't see him (not that I expected to, but I want to take pics of the damage that I saw - i.e. said "hole" in him). It's alite! Things like this happen. Least I have 10 healthy semi-adults now. I'll take care of them well. He wasn't discoloured or any thing when he decided to go upside down either. Vibrant as always.
  7. Was about to do a WC on my tank as usual on a Sunday and I noticed my male agassizi (father of all the babies) was fine as ever. Then a couple minutes later he floated upside down but still alive past the front area of the tank with what appeared to be a hole under his jaw where the two gill plates / operculum meet. He was still alive so I didn't bother fishing him out, and given he was upside down there is not much I can do any how. Any ideas what could have caused this? Have done the water change as usual and I cant find him. Might become hypan food tonight. I can't seem to find the female in the other tank as well, so maybe that's my pair gone. Babies still look promising though.
  8. It goes from being poop coloured and muddy to how it is in those pics to how it is in my avatar (minus the photoshopping for dramatic effect  ) within seconds. Love this fish.
  9. and the size of the fish's eye vs. the humans eye. Human man dude is squatting by the looks of it too.
  10. Tetra colour bits! Best food ever! It forms the staple diet of most if not all of my fish.
  11. So it's a no then? who wudda thought  Although it does sound more like a NO!
  12. You just need a very simple enclosure. you know those compressed wood shavings we send turtles in? save them and keep those wet and in a small box like thing. They sit in that during the day. Have a heat mat (exoT makes one) at the bottom of the tank under the glass, and you'll be sweet.
  13. See his fat little belly? Colour bits. Starved them until they started eating it.
  14. guess you're going to have to find out  how long is a piece of string?
  15. wow. I wanna see!! They are pretty cool! Never seen an NZ native one before though. Played with some other ones in Japan. Slippery little buggers haha
  16. Thanks Win. They certainly have grown fast. Reading this thread and looking at the millions of pics I took as they grew up makes me feel happy as! Just normal ones from a landscape place. They don't leach colour and are like $1 each. This is them today - Might keep this male actually  Hasn't even coloured up yet.
  17. Check out apistogramma.com as well.
