    Gold Severums

Nice fish . I would love a tank with them and an Arowana.
  2. Yeah it's the mayhem of catchig the holding females that I can do with out. I grow my fish out to 50mm+ befor i get rid of them I cull any dull fish.
  3. I decided to install a 3 foot under gravel filter into my 4 foot tank while it was full of water and most the fish. Once the murk settled down about a week later I had about 100mm of gravel. I noticed that my rainbow shark was missing. I thought he would have died in about a day being stuck under there. Well when I packed up the tank 2 YEARS later guess who was under the filter pale but slightly larger. I called him Smeagle and felt very guilty
  4. Ryan this is the midnight but it doesn't have the red. It has all the blue in the right places but lighter. It seams happy enough. That pic was ment to be the actule fish. I'll put some pics up in the next few days.
  5. I thought only the Ice blue and the Cobolt blue would have been the only risk of hybrid from the Mbuna. And I knew not to raise any Peacock fry from a mixed tank. I guess its a good thing I have 2 four foot tanks I will just have to carry on catching them befor breeding. So I can grow out my future stock. I just wanted a simple way of freeing up the other tank
  6. Hi all, I'm going to have a go at letting my fish breed naturally in my main tank with out removing the females and stripping them. Any thoughts on this idea? I realize that some fry will be eaten but I have many small cracks and caves so I expect some to make it. How many? My main concern is for the females will this cause too much stress on them? Here is a list of my species and a poor quality pic of my250l tank. You can see all the rock work. Pseudotropheus estherae Red Zebra 3 Melanochromis auratus 5 Pseudotropheus crabro Bumble bee 4 Labidochromis caeruleus Electric yellow 6 Pseudotropheus Greshakei Ice Blue Zebra 3 Melanochromis johannii 2 Maylandia callainos Cobolt Blue 5 aulonocara hueseri Mid night Peacock 1 aulonocara maleri Sunshine Peacock 3 but still fry

    Opinions??

What are you feeding them? It might be there poos, change there diet perhaps.
  10. I hope there is no more snow. It's cold and wet and thats just not cool.
  11. Hi Mark Yeah i think I just need to lift out the rocks. It's just such a pain in the butt. The cobolts are doing well. Thanks again.
  12. Well she passed away tonight. I seperated her and gave her some fish detol but she was hurt to much it seems. So no need to catch the smaller ones now.
  13. After the third or forth capture they know I'm trying to get them. So they sleep in the rock pile. I think i'll make a net trap like the salmon traps and try to chase them in.
  14. Cheers, I guess I'm still getting up at 4 am to catch them in there sleep. Thanks for the responses. I thik I just need to practise more.
  15. I was wondering how long it would take for that. Less than a 1 min I'm inpressed
  16. Hi all. I was just wondering how every one catches there fish. I find my holding yellows very hard to catch. Any tips?
  17. Cheers Georgeous thats a good idea.
  18. Hi all. I have a real curve ball for you all. I'm stumped. I bought a huge female about 230mm Bumble bee Pseudotropheus crabro lastnight. I put her into my Mbuna tank during feeding time after shifting pots then turned the lights out. She looked fine this morning when I was feeding. I just got home from work to find her bailed up in the corner buy 3 small 80mm crabros I think they are female. They have done a fair bit of damage. I have put her into a breeding tank to try and save her. But she is ment for the main Mbuna tank. The adult male crabros didn't seem to worry her nor did the other adult female crabros or any other fish. All the other crabros I have raised myself. Do they just hate her because she is from a different family? I just find it odd that the smallest fish in the tank are picking on the biggest. Any ideas how I can stop this?
  19. How good is your filtration? Could you add more fish. Over crowding can work.
  20. make sure you use poly. Just in case it does bow. good luck.
